Just got off the phone with some guy from some kind of part tracker service.

They claim they have located a complete wiring harness replete with ECMs and other control modules for $435 shipped.

I couldn't understand the name of his "company."

I hate when I get the week off from work on holiday and its nothing but crappy weather outside (its raining yet again here). There's never a good time to work on the Tundra.

This reminds of a place a coworker of mine used to frequent to get his toyota OEM car parts cheap. Place was in a super shady area of Lawrence, MA where you normally drive through but NEVER stop. Picture bars on window and 2-3 inch thick glass in front of guy behind the counter.

He told me how he got a used alternator one day from the place and waited for 1/2 hour while they were "prepping" it for sale.

When he drove out of the place, a 92 corolla like his had the hood open with what appeared to be car parts removed from it on the street. He didn't ask questions, but he did get the alternator super cheap. :D

Most of them are usually networked with other salvage yards unless you like to do the walk through. I've got one within a 10 minute drive. Maybe I'll take a walk through there after the rain stops.

What are you looking for BTW?

Thanks. V6 AT 4WD. I doubt you'd ever find one, but if you did pretty much the entire wiring harness, the ECM, the a.d.d relay... pretty much the electrics like @empty_lord said. The V6 is not like the V8 apparently where you can plug in 4WD harnesses and what not.

You'd be surprised. I may, but most likely it'll be already stripped. Will keep a lookout for it though.

Wouldn't that have come on other Toyota vehicles back then like the Taco and 4Runner? Just wondering if you could expand your search. There were a lot more Taco's than V6 Tundras.

An old T100 from the salvage yard might be a good fit for some of it.

So mainly the ECM plugs, and instrument cluster plugs would be different? I wonder if the output voltages would be same and possible to re-pin those plugs. I'm sure there are lots of differences I'm not even thinking of.

So far, looks like I will be dead in the water until I can track down a correct wiring harness.

So the a340e ans a340f use the same connectors yes? Wonder if I could find that company that @empty_lord was talking about if I dug enough.

They may not even be in business anymore...

    @empty_lord @ViktorG

Swapping from the A340E to the A340F can be done with no wiring changes. Yes? The transmissions are internally the same excluding the output shaft?

If so, the j-shift transfer case I found on the 2001 Tundra V6 is not electronic all manual. Yes?

So if it's a true manual shift case then theoretically, all I would need to have full 4wd is wire in a switch for the front A.D.D?

ive read that people use the fj tcase because its stronger than the taco tcase, and that v6 parts are an order of magnitude under the v8 drivetrain.

I've only ever seen like 9 FJs total in my entire life. Lol so odds of me finding one are slim as fuck.

If those lasts are still there at the junkyard I'll use what I can.

6 or less speeds are for poors and delinquents. Its 2021.

but next year, i imagine powerglides and flat torque curves will be back in fashion.
