May be a dumb question because I don’t know much about hybrids, but will the hybrid tundras have auto stop/start button? Or will the engine stop anyway by design to let the electric motor kick to take off from a stop? And Nevermind the unicorn, accidentally hit a wrong button and it won’t let me delete it.

I don’t have an answer to your question, but I liked it because you got owned by a digital unicorn.

I am pretty sure there is no button to turn it off in the hybrid. I thought I read that a while back somewhere.

Seemed like he gave it plenty of time to engage, but maybe not.

From my understanding it will turn off when you stop, but the electric motor will get it moving immediately so you don't have the second for it to restart. The engine may not even start till you are going 10-15 mph. I think Sweers said if you have it in tow haul, it will not shut off.

That s what I was thinking. So I. Other words it’s gonna do what it does, and you can’t turn it off like the auto stop button. But I guess if you could then that would defeat the purpose of the hybrid. And yes the unicorn won.

i am your TrimTab and i have not posted anything in awhile because i am still reading thru all of your posts. However, i am now confused you see on one page of posts everything about the 2022 Tundra is overall positive and then on the next page of posts it is not all positive. is it the Yin vs Yang ?
Do we Tundra folk need more Yang ?
    Yin vs Yang
The difference between Yin and Yang is that Yin is the negative or passive or feminine principle in nature and Yang is the positive or active or masculine principle in nature.

Well I always figured the ridges were to strengthen the sheet metal but keeping water away is interesting and has merit. Perhaps both

Thanks for educating us / showing us how ignorant the rest of us quite possibly can be, etc.

FWIW…and this is nothing on you personally my friend as I don’t know you…but I do know folks with degrees and professions who are the dumbest in theirs fields/bottom of the barrel, etc…so throwing that out there doesn’t say much sometimes…again, nothing on you personally so don’t take it that way

I can assure you I am not here for the argument…just to learn/share knowledge from other real world operators and so forth so Peace ☮️

Thanks, think the reason for this was one post with opinions/perspective and move on vs. continuing to post how someone doesn't like something.

Using forward rake to drain water would only work on trucks with forward drain holes.

I don't know about Toyotas....but most other trucks with steel beds don't have forward drain holes, the rake has typically been for the load the bed can hold.

every truck I’ve ever owned has had forward drain holes. My 2000 Tundra definitely does.

Although I have always enjoyed watching trucks with bed liners drive away and pour a swimming pool out the back

Agreed. Well balanced and I enjoy that he pointed out some features that I didn’t even know about like the brake hold. Unfortunate news regarding the grip size on the handle but should be easy enough to swap out with aftermarket if it doesn’t suit. Having a spring loaded flip out handle may have solved the sizing as well as any visibility issues, but I’m sure there would be issue with as well. Either way, great review and I’m looking forward to it!

    A bunch
The holes are at least 2-3" above the bottom of the bed (Not anywhere near my truck to verify if it's more) and the front joint where the bulkhead and base join should not have any gaps - though they very well could in the steel beds. But with the new composite beds I can't see there being any gaps at the bottom joint of the bed.

Can we still make payload jokes? Looks like they could only put an inch of water in there to keep it under payload.

The drain holes in the 2000 are two large black oval shaped plugs with smaller weep holes in them. They are on the bed floor in the front corners of the bed.
