When I started this thread I didn't want this to be a 3rd generation trash thread just was sharing my dislike of the cost compared to the new tech. I would really like to have the hybrid but I know that'll be way out of my league I'm sure.

They didn't design it for me either. If they did people would really be pissed and their sales would be shit. But end of the day you have to just see what's out there and pick the truck that fits your needs best. Or for many it seems, looks the best.

Though I own a 2.5 gen, I'll likely end up a third gen owner , only it will likely be my wife's lol they didn't build it for me , but that's OK.

I swear if my wife could get a long bed crew cab f350 platinum 4x4 lifted , she would. She has ABSOLUTELY NO NEED for a pickup whatsoever like not even enough truck need to even utilize a Ford maverick properly but she would drive it if she could lmao.

My wife is who they built the 3rd gen for. She likes all the fluffy crap they added and the cushy ride. Like it or not , crew cab pickups are the current times minivan. She has no use.for a truck but she will buy it and that's all they care about at the end of the day

I see a lot of independent guys using Tundras... yard guys, independent contractors, etc. Around SoCal I see lots of Gen 1 Tundras still working hard every day.
I think the problem is Toyota doesn't make enough trucks to supply fleet sales for big companies or municipalities. Ford probably produces more fleet trucks annually than Tundra's total production numbers (100k +/-). If Toyota was smart they'd build a second line and just pump out white double cab grade level trucks for just this purpose. I'm sure lots of bigger outfits had the same thought you did about the ROI, but I just don't think they make enough trucks to offer volume discounts like Ford does.

Some municipalities have rules that they only can buy domestic fleets. The old police department / city I worked for was that way. When the new caprice came out based on the Australian holden we couldn't get it bc even though it was chevrolet, it was an Australian car. Some cities do though , there's a small town called Grantsville utah that uses all tacomas and tundras for their truck fleet. Politics just get in the way alot of times

There’s a reason why a lot of big natural resource agencies drive the big 3 and it’s not build quality.

Nope, all interior. The entire interior on this truck is as cheap as they could possibly make it. The console rattles. The dash rattles. The cheap plastic inside the glove box that covers the cabin filter slot rattles. I drive a half mile gravel lane daily and this truck sounds like it's coming apart. Prior to this I had a 2013 F-150, multiple Jeeps, and a 2020 Ram 1500 and none of them made any noise going down this lane.

It just sounds like the interior isn't put together very well. Which is ironic because the exterior, frame, suspension, and axles are built like a tank.

I'm thinking you got one that was clapped out or just wasn't cared for very well. It may be one owner but that is not characteristic of these trucks.. Based on one of your previous posts you got it with nearly 89k on it. Mine isnt quite that high, but close enough to make comparison at 72k ish and doesn't make any rattles. Not one. I even took it on a 160 mile offroad miles straight in one trip alone. I make all sorts of offroad drives through the west desert , pony express etc.

Ok, I'm a guinea pig and brought home my 4th Tundra, purchased from my local Toyota dealership in Fort Collins. It is a SR5 double cap Long Bed 8'.1". I plan on doing a vlog and a walk around with interior. I'll post that info once I have something. The wife likes it, except she thinks it needs bigger tires.... If you say so, I replied. If you have any specific question I'll try to field those, though I am still figuring things out for myself. Also on the topic of folks experiencing noise and rattling, I personally have not had any issues from my 00,08, or 14 Tundras' and that's with about 200K collective miles and a bunch of offroad driving. 20211222_112557.jpg

This is the exact opposite of my experience. All of my friends’ and family members’ domestic trucks (mostly Fords but a couple GMs in there) rattle like mad. It would drive me insane. My wife’s Yukon rattles incessantly on all but the smoothest pavement. My Tundra is DEAD silent. It’s only a year old, but I do have almost 21k miles on it, with thousands of that being gravel and off road. The only noise my Tundra ever makes is when the back window is down. I’m not sure if it’s the window rattling or if it’s my retractable tonneau cover canister right behind the window.

Is your configuration the longest Gen 3? I know there is a 6.5 option with the CM. Congrats!

Yes, this is the longest bed configuration, at 8' 1", when the tailgate is down it is 10' long. I only have about 25 miles on it and when making turns it doesn't feel to me any different then my past 6' 4" beds. I have not parked it in a lot and still want check the turning radius on a two lane road.

Ok here is a photo of the door sticker, but my GVWR is 7,375lbs and curb weight is 5,565lbs the spec sheet from the dealership and Toyota rates Max payload at 1,810lbs and max towing at 11,090lbs.

Me too, I have always tried to achieve best MPG when driving, my 2014 Tundra consistently got 15mpg, so I'm really looking for something better then that. To early to tell, but will report once a burn through a couple of tanks. Also there are three driving modes; eco mode, normal mode, and sport mode (mountains and such). Will drive each mode through a full tank to see whats what.

I got a rental after a deer committed suicide on my 18 late Christmas Eve. They gave me a Silverado 4x4 and man the people that complain about the interior of Tundra should have to spend some serious time in a Chevy. The ride is just OK, but those seats suck and that back seat? That's a total joke. Lots of little rattles and wind noise is what i hear. Typical piece of crap from an American truck and it only has 43k miles on it.

Can't wait to get back in to my 1794. Gonna be a long month.

^This. When I took my first interstate drive in my 2021, having had a string of Silverados, I had a sudden realization that my lower back wasn't hurting... Another nail in the bowtie's coffin.
