If the capstone does get 4 auto then maybe in a few years other trims will get it as well. Mid cycle refresh Toyota could add it to a few lower trims to get current Tundra owners to trade into a new model. Would be pretty smart.

All this wailing and gnashing of teeth over not being able to select an inferior engine.

@Tundra4Runner sometimes it feels good to be the first to report on something so next time don't hesitate.

Edit : While I posted this, it just reminded me of the "Oh what a feeling ...... Toyota" tv commercials

I-Force Max hood thingy so no V8.

Was curious from owners, do the '22s have RCTA, when equipped with BSM and parking sensors? Thx.

Yes , according to the info online the new 2022 Tundra has RCTA

Blind Spot Monitor with Trailer Merge Warning
Tundra’s Blind Spot Monitor (BSM)10 is designed to warn you when a vehicle in the next lane enters your blind spot on either side of the vehicle. When you engage its Integrated Trailer Brake Controller (ITBC),8 the system automatically senses there’s a trailer connected, determines its length and activates Trailer Merge Warning - all without any input from the driver. And when you’re reversing out of a tight spot, Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)11helps detect vehicles approaching from either side, warning you with side mirror indicators and warning tone. Altogether, Tundra’s advanced safety technologies bring added peace of mind to every journey.16

Watch Toyota replace the NiMH battery with Li-Ion and use two electric motors in the Capstone...

Sure, compare rear seat space in a 2nd Gen CrewCab vs 3rd gen DS. Doesn't even make sense. Just 1 reason why this video IS A WASTE OF TIME.

I highly doubt the Capstone is going to have any mechanical differences. If they couldn't justify offering more than 1 engine, they're not going to have a bunch of options on a luxury trim only the 1% can afford.

    Weird video for sure.

    1. You can get a bed step
    2. tenth of an inch less bed height makes it a waste of money??
    3. Turning circle in my Silverado is 1.7' feet less. I think I'll survive in the Yota.
    4. The Tundra is 233.6" long. Will fit just fine in my "American Garage". The 8' longbed will not fit in my garage. But then neither will the 8' longbed F-150. Not sure what the beef is.
    5. He compares a doublecab to a crewmax? As I have stated before nobody buys a doublecab to put adults in the back. A thoughtful front seat passenger can easily scoot up some to make the back pleasant enough.
    6. "Bonus" reason to he doesn't like the grille frame.

I think he should keep his Tundra forever and try to be happier.

And stop making stupid YouTube videos to convince people a pickup is a waste of money. Never parked in a garage and probably never will.

Where would the second elec motor go? The first is sandwiched between engine and trans.

There's some legit gripes about the '22, mostly chassis related. 4' wider turning circle is not a good thing, larger exterior and smaller interior is odd. Bed height
and less room between the wheelwells is odd.

However, 35's fit easily with a minor lift, that's a good thing. Part of the design philosophy may have been to make it easy to fit 35's. Rear coilsprings are a good thing. People complain about payload, but it is soooooo easy to slap in stiffer rear coils if you see too much squat. Toytec, Eibach, Dobinson, Icon are drooling to sell a lift kit with stouter rear springs. The rear axle and bearings won't explode.

Since other hybrids replace the torque converter with an electric motor, and Toyota retains the torque converter on the iForceMax maybe it is possible to ditch the torque converter and instead use a larger electric motor replacing the iForceMax motor and 10 speed torque converter.

However it is my understanding that the torque converter was retained to ensure smooth and refined performance. So it’s tough to imagine a luxury oriented Tundra giving up a smoother shifting transmission.

If there is any change to the engine in the Capstone I predict more power via fancy electrons in the ECU and a requirement for 91 Octane fuel for best performance. A nice little 20-30hp bump over the regular iForceMax.

I've mentioned this before and will say it again, Toyota folks are watching this forum/thread.

I reported on the capstone Trim earlier and today that drop down is gone.

With that said, those folks who were guessing that the new Tundra will cost in the mid to high 60k range, Toyota heard you and responded accordingly.

It was up for a few days. I first saw it on the 2022 Tundra Owners on Facebook and posted a screenshot it of here on Wednesday after I saw it was still there. They're likely watching both pages. I'm surprised it took them this long to take it down honestly.

Well, I asked for an SR5 with 4Auto and 2200 lbs of payload for $45k CAD ($35K USD) and they apparently told me to go fuck myself.
