Time will tell and fuelly will be the gauges by which we should all look at it, not epa numbers

Yep I’m just making a assumption based off most of my other vehicles being around 1-3 mpg lower then the EPA numbers.

3.5tt to 3.5tt tundras are getting over 20 mpg around 70 I guess they don’t win if your considering something less powerful. Lots of real world winter driving tundra numbers coming out.

I’ve seen some good solid reviewers in the low 20’s. Also seen some reputable folks in the teens. Then you get the new content creators who restart downhill to get 26-29 to stir commotion.

See the video I watched on the new tundra the guy was at 15mpg. Give it time though and we will get more hard data

This is why I just go off all of my previous cars that are 1-3 below the EPA number. Cars, trucks, suv it didn’t matter.

You "saw" so many problems. I'm taking this to mean you never owned a 3rd gen Tacoma. I drove a Tacoma for 16 years and bought my 2016 in Oct 2015. One of the first sold. My 2019 Tundra was in for service issues (including two recalls) more times in 1.5 years than my 2016 Tacoma was in 4. But maybe I'm just proving your point?

Thanks to everyone that currently owns or has owned the F150 for the feedback. After reading the reviews, I'll probably go with the same strategy I used to purchase my current truck. Who wants to sell me a truck the most.

Last time for comparable trims it was Toyota. I'm leaning towards keeping the 2019 until my 5 year BTB expires and seeing what the market looks like then. Really want more payload and a double cab (standard bed) again tho. At least as much payload as my Tacoma had, lol.

I’d prob own a tundra but it’s too long and a little in the pricey side for what I want.

I needed something with more features than the 21 TRD pro I had so I took the equity and bought the best fit for price point. My f150 was cheaper than a limited and equally loaded to a platinum.

we move in April so if the new house has a garage big enough I may shoot for a 22 tundra

I'm bummed that the new Tundra is longer. I only have about 18 inches clearance in the garage with my 2019 and I already hate driving and parking the Tundra in town.

Having said all that, I'm not sure the F150 is better (shorter) than the 22 Tundra.

The 2.7 still tows extremely well though. I would pick a 2.7 over most of the V8’s out there at this point and, if it was not for the fact that I tow in the Rockies year round, I would probably buy one instead of a 3.5 Ecoboost.

IDK about overall length but the wheelbases are nearly identical between the F150 and 2022 Tundra.
Edit: i just went and looked and my 2014 F150 spec sheets only show it being 1.5” shorter than the 2022 Tundra

My vehicles have always been over epa. So I guess the new tundra for me will get more like 25 highway. Sweet

A first gen Ridgeline replaced my 4 runner back in 2009. Great vehicle I needed the extra space (volume inside and a bed) Tacoma way to small.
I really did not like what they did to the 2nd Gen Ridgeline, and needed more room still, so I moved to a Tundra. There were Pros and Cons. I'll say there were probably about the same number of recalls on the Honda as my current 2018 Tundra. Space (volume) inside and in the bed is a priority with me. They have made the new Tundra smaller inside and in the bed and going by reports drives much larger - not good - so I am doing some research on Tremors.

Yes seems Ford is also struggling with production issues.

https://www.autoblog.com/2020/12/24...50 appears,Free Press reported late Wednesday

Toyota new Tundra problems just haven't hit the news blogs yet. JMO

Everything is pointing to just having more patience.

best I could do in my 21 pro on city was 10.6 and highway was 16.

I meant in terms of going against the tundra. It can tow I know, but it doesn’t have the range of the 3.5 for fair comparison. But the 2.7 is a beast for what I can do and achieve. I was between that but chose the 5.0 so I could s/c it.

Let's say you drove a truck and used it well each time - loaded up or towing or both.
    For three full years.
Not a commuting vehicle and with a load on it, it rides just fine thank u very much.
So the picture is I really like my truck.
Now you get told by dealer(s) ....plural.... will pay you $6000 more than you paid for it 3 years ago including the 13% stupid Canadian taxes.
This is unheard of. What would you do?
Would this not make you look into it more no matter how much your vehicle satisfies you?

If the dealer is offering real money and not "trade-in dollars," it would make for a tougher choice for sure.

Depends. If the truck costs more no. I got $8k more than I paid for my TRD pro and purchased my lariat for less than I paid for my TRD Pro.

so for me it was a no brainer. But if I had to pay the 66.5k lariat msrp then no.

No, no no . I'm the one on the fence. You need to tell me which side to take. 8^0
This is real money value in $$.
I can walk away with the $$$ or use as a trade in to save taxes of $7000.
The intent is the second option.

In my case if there is a good discount on the new truck, I can come out even after 3 years with a new truck.

The only way this is happening is if I replace the vehicle with a new order. They take my truck I wait for new truck. No taxes paid.

This is basically correct. There was never a ghost in the machine or solar flares reprogramming ECU. After USDOT and NHTSA working with NASA wasted tens of millions investigating, they all failed to find any evidence of any electronic issues and they cleared Toyota. The UAW was very unsatisfied so Eric Holder and US DOJ went after Toyota charging them with " misleading investigators". However lost in the details of those headlines was the specific charges. It had nothing to do with any of the previous reports investigating electronic issues of the drive by wire system. It simply was US DOJ questioning if Toyota had been transparent enough on nonelectronic, mechanical pedal issues i.e. floor mats and a piece of plastic that could in theory bind against the pedal.

Basically it was Toyota's attorneys vs. the United States of America on the nuance of engineers talking to engineers about theoretical issues that while unlikely could occur if someone did something incorrectly. Defending that kind of suit costs vast sums of money, but far worse was the terrible press Toyota continued to receive conflating past debunked electronic gremlins with the current case. Long story short Toyota saw the writing on the wall. They agreed to settle quickly in exchange for relatively small fine, deferred prosecution, 3 years monitoring and a very carefully worded admission of fault that they could have been more transparent on these two limited issues. Then more headlines claiming big bad Toyota "admits they were lying all along". Neverminded the fact that this is how 98% of federal cases are settled. You don't want to go to trial against the Feds.

After 3 years the suit was dismissed by DOJ and that was almost the last of it. There were a litany of private class action lawsuits some of which Toyota fights to this day, some were dropped and some were settled to just make them go away.

Sadly, but most importantly, should someone who is not mentally capable of stopping a car with a wide open throttle be on the road anyhow?

I meant when I use it I work it. Meaning its usually loaded down full of stuff or I am towing one of my boats.
Usually spring to late fall as I travel back and forth to cabin.
I actually don't really use the truck much over winter as the cabin is shut down for winter.
This makes it more of an opportunity right now if I found a good deal on a truck.

"Mentally capable," covers quite a few different scenarios these days doesn't it? Holder did everything possible but he and the anointed one's plan left the UAW "unfulfilled."

But is it true though, he made some valid points. Rear leg room has diminished on double cab and crewmax models. Overall interior room is less. The bed is smaller and overall the truck is bigger on the outside wtf Toyota. Turning radius is more over 4 feet more and the price of the vehicle is crazy for a semi equip SR5 is going for 56k+

The leg room thing is ridiculous. It’s 1.5” less space on the double cab. Same with the bed. Dimensions are around 1” different. Also all vehicle prices are crazy right now. Those are some very minor issues for a completely redesigned truck that is better in almost every way.
