It's totally weird. I was driving down from the north in the middle of nowhere, desert shit. A guy passes me with a decent boat. WTF???? "Where the hell is he going to use that???" A few more miles I found out why.

I didn't realize there was any water in NV other than that pond those Las Vegas vultures steal out of the Colorado

You'd be surprised Mark, In northwest Nevada near the Oregon border, a lot of local creeks are named..10 mile creek, 15 mile creek. Most folks would drive right by them. Middle of the high desert and full of native brook trout, German browns, rainbows, etc. Some creeks maybe 6 feet wide at best, mostly less. 3 to 4 feet maybe. Can catch your limit in minutes. No people fishing them= hungry fish. Eat them right there on the spot. Cast iron pan............the good life.... Cold Coors doesn't hurt.

I lived in Tahoe for a while and would explore up there. Nevada really is a cool state, even with the debaucherous areas. Don't get me wrong...i love some debauchery but living in South Lake Tahoe i got enough of the casino life. I worked in one and was utterly turned off by the creepy guys that would sit there for days with no shower, no food, and no bathroom attention.

Anyway, i love the areas of Nevada that are great for fishing, paddling, climbing, and skiing. That's my kind of entertainment.

Happy Memorial Day.. Still not a lot of ice melt. Blue ice packs still frozen. Steaks quite chilled but not even partially frozen at day 3. Very chilled. About 2 3/4 cup of ice water. Some of those rib eyes will disappear today. I can see two more days easily of chilling maybe more at this rate.

That wouldn't have been me. In a kayak I stay pretty close to land. Being an old fat guy, my chances of getting back decrease the farther out I go.

I was out on New Year's Eve quite a few years ago with a friend in a Grady White rockfishing near the MMMBT. Saw two guys in a sailboat fishing, it was snowing so hard that the visibility was next to 0. They probably had 6' of freeboard, kind of like fishing off of a pier. And they were having a blast. And we were both catching.

My kayak rockfish was near the Jordan Bridge. Fishing cut bait for pups and rocks. Got into a 36" rockfish. It proved to me that fishing from a kayak is sometimes more about bringing the boat to the fish as opposed to bringing the fish to the boat.

That's a nice fish that you have there. And maybe my new favorite fishing hat too.

Day 4. 6+cups of ice melt. Blue Ice packs still frozen. The remaining rib eye actually developed a thin crust of ice on the bottom. Cooler still chilling. Very pleased.

I've got a 65qt Pelican and a 45qt RTIC, both great coolers. I'd say the Pelican is more efficient but it's also larger proportionally to it's interior size than the RTIC. The thing is a BEAST to move when full.

I have the older 35QT Pelican and I agree they are large for the interior size but it and has a few more features over the Yeti. Mine is 32lbs when empty the new Elite is 21.6lbs, I'm guessing they are a bit smaller as well.

So I was talking trash to my buddy the other day. He owns many Yetis. 20,36?,45,65... plus others. I have a cheap Coleman cooler and get free ice at work. We went fishing for about 5 hours and the coolers were filled with drinks and ice for about 8 hours or so. After fishing we went back to the truck and my cooler was mostly full of water and it was sweating and had soaked my back seat. His Yeti that was in the sun all day was still all full of ice.

Long story short, I'm going shopping tonight for a better cooler. If they don't have a good deal on Tundra 45 at Gander Mountain, it's gonna be a Pelican off Amazon Prime. It won't just be used to keep drinks cool, it'll carry food for family trips.

I'm a big Pelican fan. Do you own one? Curious about the sizes. Haven't found a local place that has them to look at

No have a friend with one, and they are legit. Most of the Roto mold coolers will do what you need them to do, especially for under a week. It's the lifetime warranty that is the deciding factor.

I had my Yeti for 8/9 years. Didn't have a lifetime warranty but I never had any issues with it at all. Hard to mess it up unless you accidentally drive over it.
Day 6. (Last day for this cooler test) Only a little ice left. Blue ice pack still mostly frozen. Steaks still getting quite chilled. Going to officially review this on Sub Zero site. This cooler is the real deal. Performed as well as my Yeti. Still chilling at 6 days.
