Definitely not a base model with the 14" screen and the SR5 Premium Package. I live in NOCO as well and with the used market sold my 14 SR5 with one severe accident, 150K miles for 5K over what I paid for it 50k miles and three years ago, with zero upgrades or services other then newer BFGs. I think folks are playing it smart by waiting. For me I wanted to unload a truck that had higher miles with an accident at a price that I would probably not see once things calm down. In turn I will have one of the first by my request 8' long box Tundras in Colorado. Its definitely not pretty and I'm apprehensive about a first year new everything let alone one of the first built 8'LB 22s, build date 12/2/21. The Silver SR5 is currently on the rails and will be delivered to the same NOCO dealership that @Dupey was at in the next couple of days. If ya'll like I can keep you posted with my experience, good and bad. In the past I have owned 3 Tundra's, all SR5: 00, 08, and 14.

Agreed...it's been estimated that inflation will be up 15% over the next year...that's gonna make today's truck look like a real bargain...

softex leather is in the limited? I thought softex was the higher end Lexus leather, my dealer assured me my 21 limited interior was REAL leather

So my 2021's leather interior is not leather at all? It smelled like it too

Making me feel I should've waited on the 22 or bought the 21 lunar rock I had been holding out for but couldn't find. Wish they would've had grey leather instead of black.

Is katzkin better quality leather? I noticed my 21 has the cloth material on inside bolster.

I think softex is that material with the printed design. I wanted vented seats and digital dash but the kids crumbs would get in those holes like my wife's gx

The 2007 Tundra received it's much needed & improved looks in 2014. So maybe 2029 model will have a better grill.

It is what is. Sissified. I got my 2021 in May and it only has 1600 miles. It is a puff cake and I do not care for it all that much. My 2008 long bed 4by is a TRUCK and a beast and I like to drive it better, sad.
Cut down a Christmas tree in the mountains as we do every year. Going up a trail crawling the 21 made some noises underneath I've never heard on the 08. It is not as fast either.
You can try but you cannot argue the fact that are TRYING to make them ride like cars.
Are you old enough to remember in 1986 Toyota went IFS? Same reason, the ride but it weakened the front end.
    Sissified.

We bought a silver 2021 Limited TRD OR package tried to find a Lunar Rock but couldn't and then at the end of summer our dealer came up with the last of the TRD Pros in Magnetic Gray so we jumped...
Now we got two 2021 Tundras after trading in the 4 Runner.

I wasn’t in the Tundra camp when the last generation roll over happened. Was there the same backlash for the new truck as there is now? ie “hate how it looks” “no reason to upgrade” yadda yadda

Totally agree. I think the 3rd Gen back needs to be totally rethought. 2.5 Gen has a deliberate break between body and bumper that’s very pleasing to my eye.

yes at first us OG 2nd Gen guys thought the new front end looked fugly. And complained about the exact same platform. However, most of us liked how it looked when we saw it in Person. After test driving and riding in the new 22 last Friday it’s more cramped, drives more like my wife’s 2018 Q7 V6 sc, and the cloth is crappier.

I wasn't either but yes, I remember people not liking the way they looked with Gen 2. I think it will grow on me eventually. I actually just got my truck like 2 weeks ago. I was thinking about leasing a 22 but decided I really wanted a V8 before they are outlawed.

That monochromatic grille looks great. I really want to like the new 22 and many things look awesome. Then there's things like that rear corner that just makes me cringe, and it's not an easy fix like the color of the grille. Why would they have the body panel stick out further than the bumper? Wrap a step around it and make it functional. But, we'll see when they actually start getting used what our members say.

FGT owner here, just gotta say the front end of the 22 Tundra looks like a 3rd Gen Tacoma almost. Merging of the two haha. It even has a 3.5L V6 (albeit TT).

The plastic body panel being in the corner is likely to facilitate the BSM system. What I find silly is that the still have two little spots of chrome between those end caps and the black plastic middle. First time I saw a profile shot of the truck I thought they just carried the body color portion all the way around.

Once I saw the location of body line split I actually though some people would be happy about it. With the straight horizontal line it will make hi clearance rear bumpers fit with the fender/bed without a bunch of trimming.

If it is anything like the 22 Highlander upgraded sounds system, it will be pretty nice. I was surprised at the clarity and nice full range of sound when we got my wife's vehicle here a month ago.

Years ago barden type bumpers wrapped around the sides and bolt to the bed on old American trucks.
When you got rear ended it tweaked the "quarter panels" of the bed.
These bumpers remind me of THAT failure in design.

A lot of complaining about a truck that is going to sell like hot cakes! Toyota will sell every unit they make.
This time a year from now the Gen 3 forum will be packed with cool new mods and MPG debates and tire size questions and color specific picture threads and all this gnashing of teeth with be long forgotten.

So what, should we just stop having opinions?? We are just talking about things we like and dislike about a Tundra on a website to discuss Tundra’s.

Well the current US I Bond (inflation bond) rate, which runs from 11/1/21 - 4/30/22 is the highest ever 7.12%.

Who knows what the future holds, but I'll take the under on that 15% forecast. I also maxed out on the I Bond...

Nope! Have all the opinions you want. I’m just pointing out that regardless of that the new Tundra will sell and all this will be forgotten in favor of the positives that everyone currently feels about the previous generations. Maybe not by you, but all this negative won’t last. As soon as the aftermarket gets rolling it will very likely turn out to be the best/favorite generation of the Tundra yet.

This is so common with any new model rollout. I love my 2019 and have no intention of selling anytime soon. Having said that, the new one rides better, has more power, gets better MPG and has improved technology .....

Nah, give it time. Look at the current Gen Tacomas, 4Runners or GX460s... same sort of issues with weird shaped front ends and inconvenient body panel junctions, but there are now plenty of front and rear bumpers, tire carriers, swingouts and all kinds of stuff for them. I think that rear end setup on the new Tundra will actually make it cleaner to install a wraparound high clearance bumper without having to actually cut anything (meaning you could go back to stock if you wanted to). To do that on the Gen 2.5 you have to cutoff a whole section of bed, and there is no going back to stock after that. I haven't really studied the junctions on the front, but I'm certain there will be plenty of options if you want to go aftermarket bumpers. Folks thought the same thing about the front end of the current gen Chevys/GMCs, but the aftermarket figured out a way to fit a bumper on them, and they look just fine. Either way, none of this is done on any modern trucks without costing a lot of $$$, so that's a moot point.

Check this link for ideas of what can be done with the current generation Toyotas...

I'm not trying to prove your opinions are wrong, I'm just trying to prevent you from giving up on this truck prematurely.
