Official 2022 Tundra 3rd Gen Thread

Spotted this new 22 at my old Yota dealer. This color with the black grille looks not bad at all actually....

 

Fantastic. And facts are still facts. I don’t really care who they are marketing it to. It has more HP, higher payload, and better fuel economy.


If that makes it a commuter/influencer vehicle (whatever the hell that is) then the previous Tundras are the same thing with worse specs.

Oh, I forgot. What about the children, I mean recovery hooks?

 

The tundra would be a more “fun truck” if it had tow hooks and a real rear bumper lol

What about the children? Toyota obviously hates them and abandoned them with prejudice.

Previous gen was not a commuter/influencer truck. 2.0 was class leading. 2.5 was dependable cheaper alternative to the big 3. No American Toyota 4x4 I think has ever been a "good" commuter before the release of this 3rd gen hybrid model.

Taco and 4Runner definitely flirted with and shifted into the "influencer" area IMO.

 

The tow hook issue has officially been beat to death. It's just the same points argued 100 different ways by each side over and over again. Reminds me a lot of the current state of politics.

At the end of the day, some people won't ever notice they're missing, and others will consider another truck because it's such a huge oversight. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but goodness give it a rest already. Hopefully Toyota at least holds up their promise and makes them available as an accessory down the road, but we'll find out soon enough.

 

How are you liking your new 22? Is that new motor and tranny a great combo? Curious about the new rear suspension too. Nevermind, ha! Just noticed it's on order.

 

Yeah, still on order. Delivery of mid-Jan as of right now.

 

At the end of the day, Yota will sell a lot of these new Tunny's. Above my budget but the one I saw today was nice.

I think that new Nissan will sway a lot of guys running older Toyota trucks.

I just hand washed mine. Heck of a lot easier for this old fart. For what it's worth.... my new Frontier is what the current gen Taco should be. There's a new Taco on the way, but this is a 22 Tunny thread and don't want to go off the track cause I've never done that here over the years.......

Ha! Yep, tow hooks, although a nice to have, is but a small part to bitch about not having. The good......the more 22 Tunny's sold = more new members here which is good.
Not sure if the mods will acquiesce to your tow hook bashing request. Trashing a members new 22 would be in bad form tho....

I want to add some more opinions again to the tow hooks debate.
You guys know that there will be a aftermarket bumper with tow hooks coming out right?
Tacomas, 4runners don't have tow hooks and I didn't hear any of them complaining as much as everyone on here is about the damn hooks.
Most serious offroaders will get aftermarket bumpers anyways so really is that big of a deal the Toyota didn't put them on? No, not really. Would it have been nice as a option? Sure of course. But it's not, so deal with it, move on or buy a truck the has them that I know most people won't use them.
