What do you mean loose? The sensor garnish had some play to it?

 

Maybe a dumb question, but where did you install the rubber stripping on the hood bulge? I was wondering what that was for...

 

Not a dumb question at all! I installed it on the inside upper edge of the new hood bulge that could potentially be in contact with the hood. If you look at the stock hood bulge once you remove it it’s a lot more obvious where it should go. I just bought some 0.5” 3M Auto Stage 2 Super Strength Molding tape to attach it, and trimmed the excess.

Ordered mine July 28. Still haven't received anything yet. Hopefully soon, as it looks like they are available again on the website.

 

I ordered July 5th and still nothing as well. They received a large shipment of grills but no bulges at the moment.

Just got a reply email. Bulges are expected this week. Hopefully enough to get some of our orders fulfilled.

late reply, not play but it had slightly popped out of the housing. Since that time, I have noticed my sensor will act up on long drives after about 120 miles, and will say 'clean sensor' but shutting the car off an on will reset it again. I am going to email tacovinyl and see what they say but I'm tempted to buy an OEM garnish instead.

 

My oem sR5 grille does that now if there’s any precipitation

 

ahhh, thanks for the clarification. I had the OEM garnish on my Tacoma and it would flash that message during rain as well. Actually does it on our 4runner as well.

 

Anyone have any recent updates? Haven't seen any movement after they were supposed to get stock in the week of Thanksgiving. Going on 5 months now...

 

The most current email I received from Brandon at Taco Vinyl was on 11/22 informing me they received a large order. He stated they would be getting painted and shipped out in the following weeks but no specific timeline. I emailed him 12/1 and 12/7 asking for a status update, however no response yet. Communication is sub-par at best, but I’m hopeful we should receive them prior to Christmas. My order was also placed 7/5/21 so I’d imagine we’re in the same boat (no pun intended)

 

So do they have people's money since July and keep delaying orders?

 

Lol glad to hear I am not alone but yeah this is getting ridiculous. About to just order an OEM one and if this thing ever shows up, should be easy to sell as the price is $300 higher now.

 

Finally got a response from Brandon, apparently the grilles arrived and are getting painted now. They hope to get them out next week and the following. We shall see....

I reached out and emailed Brandon yesterday. He mentioned that he will be shipping mine out today. No update on tracking info.

 

850 for color matched and it's not even OEM. Yeah they can fuck right off.

It’s honestly hit and miss. There have been times where I haven’t had a response in over a week.

 

Yep and its extremely frustrating. I realize some of the delay has been out of their hands but they could at least provide some better customer service and proper updates. Looking back at my email threads with them, they were providing me false updates most of the time. Back in August they said the grille was getting painted then shipped yet a month later they tell me they didn't get enough upper grilles.

 

It’s funny you mention that about the false updates as I’ve received basically the same info as you’ve described. I’ve debated just to cancel the transaction with my bank and go another route but a part of me is hopeful that it will finally arrive and hopefully there will be no issues with fitment or paint

 

If the vendor is lying to you, it's time to cancel the order.

 

Wow... Yeah well that's the thing, their website says "There are no refunds past 24 hours of purchase." So I guess I would have to contact my bank/credit card to cancel this damn thing. I am hopeful as well but getting pretty skeptical as the weeks go by and still no movement.

 

Well, we’ve made it this far haha. Hopefully the outcome will be in our favor and not the latter.

I just got an email with a tracking. And it’s UPS, so I won’t have to wait an additional 6 months on FedEX.
