I been back and forth on how to eliminate the chrome on my 19 TRD off road DC.
Truck already had the black fender flares when I bought it. I added the NFab step bars and tonight I decided to go with the bumpershellz for the front and rear bumper caps and the grill surround and bulge.
Some will say it makes the truck look like a base model but hey.
I also ordered a readylift 3/2 SST lift to replace the 2/1 kit on there now.20210707_130324.jpg Screenshot_20211220-175506_Chrome.jpg

If you’re worried about the base model down grade, I would color match the handles, flares and front chrome. Black out the wheels and either delete or color match the emblems. That’s the way I’d go anyway.

I don't know of anyone that has used a surround and bulge overlay. They aren't going to sit flush.

Far from worried about it. I've seen plenty of color matched trucks. Being different

Not sure. I bought truck used and from a Ford dealer at that. They kind of look like bushwhackers I saw I'm a magazine but not 100% sure

Pretty sure those are OE style wackers.

Here in Alberta thry cost over 1200 cad color matched. They are like 3/4 inch out. Next one is extended A style 1.5inch and the big fat ones are 2inches which makes the tundra look silly.

I have the bumpershellz in white and they’ve held up great! I went with a TRD pro grill and white surround though. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy the bumpershellz again! Great product and great company who will answer any question you have in their monster thread here in the forum

It's like my Tacoma pro. Looks nice.

I have been debating whether or not to get the flares. You need another layer behind the seals to prevent rubbing on the paint.

I saw my friends new Denali fender after he removed the flares, heart breaking to see permanent marks on the brand new paint job. Those flares supposed to protect the paint but they failed badly.

So I ordered myself 12*48 husky long johns from Amazon. Lol

The flares destroy the paint because as they flex with temperature, the dust and grime behind the seal acts as sand paper. Putting paint protection film on takes care of that.

Especially when you bring it up north here today it's -40 celcis. Plastic and metal and rubber for sure expand differently. And when it warms up again later you ll find those plastic fenders warp.

And this is the reason I go clean with long johns this Christmas.

Massive black grills on the front of white trucks look worse than the chrome IMO. Go with the PRO color matched grill.

From my own taste I would never let black dominate on a white truck. It ll be way off balance.

Yes, it catches bugs. Does it change the air current to deflect bugs and stones? Maybe in some instances. Back in the day when bug shields were about 4" of straight up, I hit an owl and I believe the bug shield which sheared off saved my windshield and may have prevented an accident because I was on a very curvy narrow 2 lane at about 50 mph or so. Had the glass shattered and caused me to lose sight of the road, who knows. In this case, my main goal is to keep rock chips away from the hood and hopefully the glass. Anything else, I consider an added bonus.
