I use that term to differentiate between actual parents who are teaching their children things of value rather than instilling in them a sense of entitlement and belief that the world revolves around them and exists solely to be of use to them.

Those would generally be breeders, not parents.

I'm ok with kids. Not keen on brats.

A courtesy warning before the movie starts. A verbal warning or worse if your cell is disturbing other patrons who came to actually watch the movie. Not all theaters are the same. My grandson stays put which is good. The bad.......constantly playing with the lounge chair adjustment buttons. Hate the freakin lounge chairs...

Yeah. Plus the $60+ it'll cost once you buy tickets and snacks for two people.

I have a 75" 4K tv. Not much looks lame on it. LOL. I also have a decent sound bar, know how to make popcorn the same as at the theater (clarified butter and powdered salt is the secret), there's a cabinet full of whiskey and I have a comfy reclining couch. Bonus is the pause button for when The Woman inevitably needs to visit the washroom or things get frisky.

Single, and I don't do food and drink when watching a movie. Still not cheap, but it helps.

Even then, it's $20 - $25. Prime Video has started offering early access to some movies for about that price. Watch it at home, avoid the other shitty theater experiences. :D

Yup. Just have to divert Tundra mod money into a home theater fund for a bit if I want tge sound.

Though some things won't live up to a theater. 2014 Godzilla was soooo much better in the theater.

Sound is really the big one. Especially with BluRay being mixed mainly for 5.1. I just have a sound bar so alot of the time I have to watch BluRay movies with the remote in my hand and adjust on the fly. Annoying as hell.

I don't have space in this house but our next house will definitely have a dedicated home theater.

Cinemark. A fairly new one at 380 & DNT. I didn't know any of them served food prior to going to this one. Food's not as good as Alamo, and they may or may not have the 'no noise' policy, but if I were to go back to a theater, I could go there.

I think my TV is only 55" and I need to replace the shitty speakers from my first "home theatre in a box" system that I'm still using. First step will be buying a powered subwoofer that works with my receiver.

We're still using the 48" my wife had when I met her, which is more than 12 years ago. When it dies I'll be replacing it with an 83" - the biggest that will fit in the space. I'm sure I'll be shopping NAD and Crutchfield for the system to support it. We watch a lot of TV and movies (when I should be off my ass in the gym, tbh), so it's something I don't mind opening the wallet a little wider for.

If only it could be as helpful as the forum is for truck mods... I used to know at least some about home and car audio, but not really anymore; and I like researching a thing to death before I buy it. I'm sure I'll find a home theater forum somewhere when the time comes.

I only got to the movies 4-5 weeks after release, I’m not at the “have to see it” point of life. I’ll go the the matinee show on a weekday, which is still only $8 here. The theater is about 15 minutes from the park, so I’ll go to work, take a couple hours off for the movie, then go back to work. I have no issues going alone, and there are very few people at the showings.

My TV at home is sub 40”, and I have no intentions to go bigger. I actually hate when I go somewhere and the tv is the focus of the room. My sister has a 65” in a tiny living room that can barely fit the stand and her couch. Still have the Sony 5.1 sound system I bought in the early 2000s and it works fine.

Nothing wrong with that. My dad is the same way. I think he has a 42" tv in his downstairs rec room. It might get turned on once every couple weeks.

Reminds me of a story I'll try to keep short. I've worked in technology for a long time, and even though it's not desktop support, some things go along with that territory, like being your family's IT support guy. My dad worked for IBM fixing check sorting machines for probably 35 years; and although it isn't really the same, it's in 'computers'. About 10 years ago I build my dad a new computer and got it working really nice. Probably three years later he said something about keeping track of some records, and I suggested he use Microsoft Excel, which I'd loaded on his computer.
"It's not working. Hasn't worked in about three months."
"Dad, you're not that far away. I can fix it. Why didn't you call me?"
    "Because I don't give a shit."

I routinely forget my cell phone at home. People ask me how I can forget it, but for me it’s just a phone. I need to make a call I use the landline.

We went Christmas shopping Saturday at NorthPark in Dallas.
She has most of it done, we just needed a few more things.
Got there early, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Wife took me to a store called Eataly.
Everything in the store is from Itlay.
They have 3 or 4 different restaurants in the store.
We had a little lunch and it was great.

This store is huge (2 levels) and awesome.
They have and make fresh Italian EVERYTHING.
Fresh pasta, cheese, baked goods, meats, wine, and more.
Eataly - Eat, Shop, Learn High-Quality Italian Food | Eataly

Ship online and have 8 stores in US and Canada.
    Stores Archives | Eataly

I know some of y'all are real foodies.
Check out the website, if you're close to one, check out the store..
