Any of you guys with over 100K miles have insight as what could I expect to have to replace / repair as this truck gets older? I have never enjoyed a vehicle as much as I do this one and planned on driving until 200K miles, but the last three months I have:

    -replaced lower control arm
    -replaced windshield wiper fluid reservoir
    -replaced sunroof (stuck open)
    -horn component replaced
    -head light assembly replaced

Should I be concerned that this is a sign of things to come or are these type of issues normal under wear and tear? Have you guys had other issues similar to above? Thanks in advance, first time post.

    Welcome!

All depends on how hard someone runs their truck.
I wouldn't say those are normal items to replace on a '15 with 100k miles.
Did you just get the truck?

Thank you for your response! I run it pretty hard, towing and off road driving. But outside of the lower control arm those other items don't seem to be due to running the truck any certain way. I bought the truck in 2016 with 20K miles on it, so I am responsible for any of that wear and tear. Not sure if this helps....

I run mine pretty hard as well, but I have a 2nd gen... Don't off road, but besides maintenance items, starter at 209k, and soon front caliper at 250k and water pump, since it is leaking now.

300 hectares on single tank of kerosene

What part of the country are you in? We had a 4X4 rock warrior, 2014 at work that was pretty much neglected and it got 230,000 miles when it went back to the fleet owner to be auctioned, and it still ran great. It went through several Wyoming winters with no issues, and no preventative maintenance.

I am almost wondering if these trucks go bad from babying them lol.

I tow a lot and when I’m off road it’s usually in NW Texas / West Texas area.

Having lived in west Texas, offroading there amounts to not much more than dirt road driving, so it shouldn't be hard on the truck at all. I feel I push my tundra pretty hard offroad and the only issue I've had was a failed blower motor on the climate system, it was covered under my ext warranty though. I have 72k miles , I tow l classic trucks with it and offroad in the mountains of Utah for reference. I think you should be solid

I have a 2017 Limited with 62K on the clock. I tow fairly regularly but I don’t beat on it. Only reason I’m responding is to tell you my plan for long term / high mileage ownership. So far:
    1. Battery crapped out one really cold morning last winter. Put a new one in myself for $150.
    2. Replaced the rotors and pads at all 4 corners with HD premium stuff from NAPA at 56K miles. The OEM front rotors had a little warp and I didn’t want to waste my time pulling them and turning them. The pads were still fine. The rear rotors were fine. They had a bit of rust but honestly didn’t need to be replaced, I just did all 4 corners at once since I had my tools out. Calipers were fine, lubed them up and no issues. I have a connection at NAPA and was able to get all 4 rotors and the premium pads all around for $160 total ($40/corner). These ought to last 100K, they’re much better quality than OEM.
    3. I changed out the F and R Diff fluid and the transfer case with the “proper” fluid. Planning on doing the transmission fluid and coolant this summer as I approach 75K. Will replace the serpentine belt at that time too.
    4. Original tires lasted me about 23K miles. Put on a nice sent of Michelins that will need to be replaced before next winter.

I’m planning to repeat this routine until about 250K miles before I even start to worry about unscheduled repairs. I’ll keep my eye on the hoses, it other than that, Im not a bit worried. Now maybe I’m overly optimistic, but these Tundras just seem to have the bugs worked out and they keep on running. I couldn’t be happier with mine.

I forgot to mention the brakes seem to be a full replacement at around 35k on these trucks. At 72 k I've out two sets of rotors and pads. This time I replaced with drilled and slotted rotors , But again I tow and live in the mountains so brakes are used alot. Even still, I would consider this a maintenance item.

Thanks a ton for all of the information, based on input from you guys I am going to chalk up these recent issues to standard 100K mile replacements.

Great information and feed back, thanks a ton. Unless something crazy happens this one will get to 200K miles, at least.

My truck has 231k. I just replaced the LCA bushings with poly bushings, and replaced the lower ball joints as well. What's crazy, is that none of it had any significant amount of wear. Strange your LCA needed replacing. As far stuff that needed to be replaced due to wear my list is as follows

    Water pump was weeping- 173k
Carrier bearing chirping- 220k, replaced 231k
Blower motor went out- 200k ?
Leaf springs worn and replaced- 231k
Fuel pump replaced with URD kit-197k

Things I've done for preventive maintenance because I like to tinker and work on my truck

Ujoints, during carrier bearing swap- 231k
Rebuilt brake calipers due to torn boot- 226k
Probably more I'll add to the list as I think of it

I've got 60K just swapped out the tires and did a brake pad check. Will be good till summer time and will clean and lube the calipers and new pads. Rotors look fine. I also plan to change the diff and trans case oil, debating the transmission. Seem to remember a specific routine to do that. On other vehicles, I would disconnect the lines at the cooler, immerse the suction line in a 5 gallon bucket of fresh fluid and run the output to an empty 5 gallon bucket, start the car and let it idle till the fresh fluid came out, button everything up, run trans trough all the gears then check level, but not sure on this beast.

I have towed a couple times, but not too often, but will be towing a 7K trailer soon, so want to be ready.
