That makes sense. I've never been in a union as a welder, so there were still interviews...kind of. They were usually pretty pointless since welders are generally hired by word of mouth. Every welding job I've had or been a part of hiring for, a resume and interview was simply a formality. Know a guy in the shop, he says "yeah, I know so and so. He's a stud." , go in and shake hands, done.

Now that I'm typing them out, I've had more than I'd like to admit:

    Convenience store clerk (16)
    Home Depot
    Light's Fantastic warehouse worker
    Plumbers helper
    HVAC helper > fabricator
    Insurance company clerk
^That's about 6 years, with big gaps between some of those jobs
    Federal Reserve Bank clerk
    IRS clerk
^These two total about 9 years
EDS: IT Help desk > Security Architect
Insight: Microsoft Solutions Consultant / Manager
    ^These last 2 are 24 years

Started swinging a hammer at 6 “helping” my dad with various projects and remodel jobs and did that until I left for college.
    Mowed lawns for neighbors
Trimmed raspberry canes at the end of one season
Worked McDonalds for two months right out of HS (first job not under the table)
Worked restocking shelves at Safeway, then transitioned over to the produce department for a summer before college
Worked in a shipping warehouse contracted to John Deere for a summer during college
Framed houses for a summer and into the winter during college (fucking cold framing houses in WI in the winter)
Worked for a custom remodel contractor for about 6 months during college
Interned for my current company my last summer of college (1997), then came to work for them full time when I graduated and haven’t left. I’ve been a field engineer, assistant project manager, project manager, BIM coordinator, BIM Manager, and now Director of Virtual Construction.

    6 employers in 25 years.

First paying job I was 15, just a strong back and weak mind for this shady character building fence. He tried to get out of paying me until my dad sent him a letter from our lawyer. It was just my dad, with good lawyer talk. He paid up right away.
At 16, I got a job at Burger King on our AF base until I graduated.
After high school I worked a couple shit manufacturing jobs until I got an electrical apprenticeship.
Been in the trade now for almost 20 years, commercial construction and now a union journeyman wireman at a hydroelectric dam.

Just think, when you get colder you can put more clothes on. When we hit 119F during the summer you can only get so naked in public.

Yep. That's one of the reasons I prefer the cold to the heat. It's also easier to warm up than it is to cool down.

My job history is so boring compared to all of you guys.

Pizza Hut for a couple years in HS.
    Burger King for a month.
Roofer for a summer to get a 2 dollar raise.
Moved a bit and was hired at a newly opened Gamestop in that never actually put me on the schedule. Lived on my savings for a month before "quitting" because thier employee discount was costing me money.
Hired as a telemarketer selling newspapers. Lasted 2 whole weeks and only job I was let go from. They were just a bit quicker than I was. Planned to give notice the same day.
Moved again, brief stint back with Pizza Hut.
Took over a fireworks store as a manager with a buddy.
Took a job as a fuel desk attendant at a truck stop.
Previous 2 totalled almost 7 years. Then started with my current company as a warehouse worker. Covered 3 different positions/jobs and was essentially a lead, but the position didn't exist.
When they fired an idiot from a driver position I applied for it. Got it, trained, got my CDL and was driving to some crazy places delivering buildings, cell towers, and related components to the tops of mountains for a few years.
Pounced on an opportunity to get out from under a garbage manager by switching departments. Now I'm a NOC tech and have been for a few years.

That’s not hard to do around here!
We went to caps n corks, which is more expensive than tap n bottle; I’ll be trying them next time. But we went and got some Xmas gifts, which I totally forgot the gift card so I had to run back in. The cashier mentioned my boys looked EXACTLY like me………..and how cute they were…..
I also got that candy bar milk stout to try later.

I won't be able to partake, being woefully gluten free; but I imagine a hatch chile beer tasting something like an R&B cover of Radiohead's Creep. Weird, but delightful.
