Suddenly, I'm changing oil in the sequioa at the end of the day, and fixing the seat belts. Some one is paying to send my sister, and her immediate family to Florida tomorrow. They have literally nothing to pack... nothing to take...

I'm grateful that someone cares enough, but I'd rather they have just given them a lump sum of funds to help rebuild.

I spoke with pops about it. He said that maybe some ones time share was about to expire, and they needed to use it or lose it. I don't know.

Strange times we live in... strange indeed.

From dad. At least he knows I suppose.

It'll be a good break mentally from what they've got going on at home. Gotta find the positive in all negatives or they'll grind you down.

And the parents depending on children as they age is just the circle of life. We depend on them until we all can stand on our own and raise our own kids...then as the kids can stand on their own, the parents support the now grandparents...ad infinitum. Ka is a wheel.

Yes. This. A mental break for them would be choice. 100% sometimes I forget my own skills, and age.

Salt just makes 'em grow faster, and I've got a stand of trees with rootplates the stuff is growing on top of, so I need to worry about those oaks, mulberry, and hackberry trees. I believe nothing shy of napalm would work, honestly.

After watching Fred and Dave run a locked front with LT and 40” tires on a 4runner, I’m a lot more trusting of these front diffs.

Found out today Kellogg is on strike. Had to buy Raisin Bran at the Dollar General store. Not a place I typically go.

Its out of stock everywhere else.

This has got to be the biggest piece of shit I've ever driven, yet I really enjoyed driving it...
    20211218_145659.jpg

Two levers excluding parking brake. One for side shift, and then the other was a four axis UP/DOWN and Tilt.

Never been on one like that, but I was walking the dog with it in about 7 minutes.

Pretty on spot IMO. I ditched steering controls when I went aftermarket stereo. Never missed them myself. Kept them in the 4R, drove that a lot lately, thought, "that's nice." Still don't miss them in my truck. I recently drilled my tailgate handle and put an Amazon camera back there. Too fisheye, I couldn't get it pointed down enough. No good backing perspective. I have a Tailgate Masters to try next. I have easy LEDs, no headlight upgrade. What I have works great. But other than backup lights, not a game changer at all.

Got the truck aligned finally. A lot changed, new rear suspension, new LCAs, LBJs, steer rack bushings, and 3 cranks per side on coilovers. I noticed the caster was +2, not +3 like every other alignment. Whatever, but after driving it at highway speeds, feels a bit too willing to turn. Tracks fine just just doesn't lock in as well as it used to. I'm guessing that 1 degree of positive caster is the difference.

#1 is why I insisted on buying a truck that already had them installed. Lack of them on my last truck (late 90s GMC) drove me nuts.

#5 makes me realize you've potentially never driven a pre-2005 GM truck for any period of time. The turning radius on prior truck in that vein were atrocious in comparison to my Tundra.

Perhaps he's driven a UPS package car. Turning radius on those is very impressive.

Yep. Low caster = light steering. I like at least 2.5° or more for our trucks.

I’m very close to attempting a wheel swap. Scared though. Seems like a sienna wheel is the same as sequoia and should fit but I don’t know if the clock spring has a connector for steering wheel controls on my ‘02. I plunked down for just the controls and maybe a good next step is to remove the airbag and see if it’s possible to plug it in. From there it’s a matter of locating and tapping the wires on the other side. I do have maestro inbound to translate to the pioneer so maybe this is actually doable.

Oh and turning radius I’m comparing to the Tacoma. It’s noticeably more difficult to U turn in the Tundra despite the wheelbase being rather similar.

I am pretty sure based on what Dan has told me that my airbag won’t transfer if I did swap to a wheel with steering wheel controls. That’s a pretty big part of the headache and cost / complexity. Outside of that the work seems rather doable.

So the espresso maker for the wife's birthday is a big hit. In retrospect, I could have dialed it back a tad to an E6 or something else. But, F-it, she is happy.
