I’ve had a couple of those this week. They hit the spot.

 

I was just about to crack a beer and the work phone rings, looks like I’m going in for OT tomorrow to plow

 

Soooo, what beer are you drinking?

 

I can't do that anymore. If I have a few I'm useless the next day. I mentioned earlier today about blows to the head, one of the side effects is vertigo\motion sickness, which occurs with a lot of back and forth plowing.

 

That’s a bummer. I think many of us accumulate damage of different types if we live through it

 

Should add that to the stat list on the trading cards, number of broken bones, concussions, hardware installed etc.

 

Most of the time it's not an issue, but it seems to pop up while plowing. I've got all sorts of sinus issues too, due to a broken nose I had in high school. I had to have facial reconstructive surgery on that one

 

Did you let them see that Bears mug? Only reason I could think you’d bomb an interview.

 

A back of a trading card couldn't fit that. It would be n print that you'd need a magnifying glass to read

For sure. From my experience the majority of candidates for a given position are eliminated in the first interview because they show up utterly unprepared, late, disheveled, or mumble/slur/slang their speech so badly that they cannot effectively communicate. It's not because they didn't blow minds and rock the interview. If you show up on time, don't smell like a dumpster, speak clearly, and don't have to "er" and "um" every other word then you are already in the top 10% of applicants for most jobs.

So is it ok that I smelled like a dumpster behind a brewery for my phone interview? I definitely said “um” way more than I normally would, but they also asked completely open ended questions and I think that was the point. Watch you fumble for a bit and see how you recover. I still stand by that I blew it, but after getting a couple more beers in me I care a little less, lol.

 

That thing should probably go in the trash can like their season.

 

I’d really rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy!

 

Happy Friday crew. I thought I bombed my interview for the job I have now. Complete vaporlock on a question and I didn't think I recovered from then on. I still got the job. Not sure how but still there 7 years later.

 

Man from someone dealing with piss poor interviews that are few and far between to begin with: well said sir!

 

There are many reasons I steered my career path away from management, and this is one of them. It sucks and doesn't pay enough for how angry it makes me.

 

Best/worst interview question anyone?

I can only imagine a hiring managers stories.

my sister is super savvy with HR and hiring process; she linked me to this super, what I thought feminine job coaching site, but I’ll be dipped; pretty much every question on the site that I prepared for, was in the interview. I killed the interview and even got some raised eyebrows; but later found out I didn’t get the job due to in house BS. But it still helped me down the line for the next one!

 

Those are the left field kind of questions that are just designed to dick with people. That, or they have an uptight HR department with a lot of whiny workers and they need to know if your humor is going to get them sued.

 

My god I missed a lot. Guess I was distracted with anticipation of getting this..

A little more than twenty years ago I got an interview for an EMS job at a large urban trauma center. It took more than a year to get an interview even with recommendations from a chief that worked there. I showed up in a suit 30 min early. I walked in with another guy who I thought worked there already. He was wearing jeans and a tee shirt. The chief doing the interviews walked in and asked the other guy his interview time . The guy told him one hour from now. The chief said great that gives you enough time to go get appropriate clothes for an interview. He immediately looked at me and said you're up. I almost shit my pants.
