Lately, I notice when I start my truck and move from park to drive, the truck doesn’t move unless I give it a little gas. It seems to move a little better on its own from park to reverse. Is this normal or does this sound like a potential transmission issue? When I normally drive the truck, it shifts fine but the throttle response isn’t as good as when I first got it. This is an 07 DC with 200K miles.

Also, I put it in neutral to see if it made any noises or did anything unusual and there’s no problems there.

Will it roll at all in neutral on a slight slope? I'm curious as to when the driveshaft has last been serviced. It could be as easy as that, but it could be something more complex. Start with the easy stuff.

That’s the part I don’t understand. It doesn’t hardly roll when I tried it in neutral in the parking lot or my driveway. There were a few times where I had to put it in neutral when going through one of those “fancy” car washes and it moved fine.

    On an incline?
There's no way to know how hard that machine was working to potentially overcome the resistance offered by your truck. I don't know enough about them to guess what would happen if it wasn't up to the task. For example, does it just pause the wash, or is it capable of dragging it along even when in Park?

I think it pauses the wash

    Ah.

So back to your truck. I'm still not clear if you've tried checking to see if it will roll on a slight slope in neutral...

Haven’t tried it on a slope yet, but what about on flat surface?

It really sounds like you have one or more brakes dragging. That can be caused by seized caliper piston(s), seized rear caliper slide pins, or pads stuck on the front retaining pins or within the caliper itself.

Or the parking brake isn’t releasing fully.

If it's too flat, then not much is going to happen :p

    Unquestionably another possibility.

The rear brake backing plates also corrode and swell and can cause rubbing.

I'd even consider if you have heavy tires.

Easy way to tell is it get a infrared laser thermometer, (harbor freight sells them for like $14 on sale lol) go for a quick drive and come back. If one is sticking it will be obvious with significant temperature difference. Keep in mind that front will be hotter than rears as they are most of your stopping power

It's also not that big of a deal to chock the front wheels on these trucks and put the rear diff on jack stands, then put the truck in neutral and spin each rear tire, then put the chocks on the back wheels and get the front in the air to spin each of those wheels.

I noticed my brakes don't release immediately either. Doesn't seem to be an issue while driving much. Really only notice after it's been parked a bit.

Back out of the garage, shift to drive, it takes a second to move.
There is a slight incline where I back out. I tried putting it in neutral and it held position until I bounced in the seat to shake the truck. I heard the rub as the brakes released then.
Eventually, I'm going to pull the brake pads out, clean out everything with a wire brush, rub on fresh brake grease where it needs to be, and see if that helps.

Seems like something that can't hurt to try anyway.
Might hurt my wallet just a little bit when I think to myself "may as well paint the calipers while I'm here". ;)
