Here I was thinking it was a reflector for some reason. I've never seen a connector like that, but then again, RS 232 has been king of the embedded electronics I've had to work with for work over the years. Fraction of the bandwidth, but rock solid and I probably archaic enough not to suffer from stuff like this. Bent pin on a DB9 connector is obvious as hell :D

That's not even the largest connector and its 166 pins. They're ruggedized and keyed so the only thing that could have bent it would be FOD in the receptacle socket.

The military guys being as they are will MAKE it fit even if something is blocking the connection. :D

I predict the humpback Rav4 will be the Samurai equivalent in the future. Lacks the low range but has manual and 2 or 4 door. The late 90's to 2000 model with the locking diff action would be a beast with some knobbers.

Maybe I live a sheltered life, but I have never seen a guy without a woman driving one of the older Rav4s that are out there.

Maybe that's why they refer to it as the "cute ute".

The newer ones are cool looking though. I wouldn't mind owning one in a hybrid that gets 40 mpg.

Honestly, I've always digged this body style. Don't care if it's a drop, but if I could find a cheap one, I'd buy it.

Called about it to schedule viewing. Already under contract. Damn. Lol

I have an automotive spec circular bulkhead connector for the new EFI on the 911. It's only 42 or 47 pins.
The plan is to be able to drop the engine and trans in 30 minutes. (axles and oil should be the majority of that time)

That's how it's been for a few years around here.
Have had to either be lottery-lucky or have cash in hand while you shop so you can make a move from your phone from work. It's fucking stupid.

Are you still pre-approved? I think it's good for 90 days. Around here there was no point looking unless you were approved to make an offer that same day.

Fun story about pre-xmas pool maintenance.

I was a swimmer in High School. (100/200/500 free)
At the beginning of xmas break, they drained the pool for some big maintenance/repair. They promptly refilled it and got it back online.
They did not turn the heater back on tho. So on 12/26 when we got back to practice, the pool was ~55*F.
Let's just say that practice was fast. Not the duration, but the times we were swimming. IDK what the pool warmed up to while we were in it, but I know for sure we brought up the temp a couple/few degrees. Everyone was going as hard as they could just to stay warm.

I was pre-approved but nearing the end of my 90 day window.

Side note: New tires I ordered should be at a new local tire place today for the corolla.

    Oof, that's a bit brisk.

I did the math here a few years ago. Pool is 300k gallons and the natural gas to heat it from the 65ish degree fill temp to 81 was enough to heat like 3 houses for the winter.

Speaking of pools, I wish I had an outdoor jacuzzi for the cold winter months. My sis bought one a couple years back and I'm jealous.

Damn HOA won't let me do anything around here.

Houses rarely stay on the market over here right now for more than 48-72 hours, and are going for 10-15% over asking price. They usually aren't under contract as quickly as the one you saw, unless someone approaches with a cash offer that's already 5%+ over asking price. Pricing is already absurd.

Fun tidbit. In 2011, after 7 years ownership, the only offer I could get on my house was 20% less than what I had in it, 5% less than the original purchase price, and from some couple who demanded lease-to-own and the woman was too large to make it up and down the stairs to the bedrooms, had plans to convert the living room into a bedroom. FFWD to today, 10 years later, Redfin and Zillow have us spec'd at more than 3x the purchase price. In 10 years, the house has tripled in value.

Stinks of bubble to me. There's no way California evacuee dollars or foreign short-term rental dollars are driving prices up this much. The spike in housing costs look to be on-par with what college tuitions saw from '90-'00 and never stopped climbing. The fact you have to go into debt for a decade just to clear college these days ... we're making ourselves dumber by the minute, while also making ourselves stuck indebted to housing, either through forced-rental with housing prices being too high, or lifelong indebted if you purchase.

When people can't afford a home and can't afford an education, or need to choose between the two, clear sign of major failure.

I prefer the 5-door over the 3-door personally. But yeah, I fully agree. I like this lil' highway warrior.

Yeah, think of it in calories if you really want to see a big MFing number. 1 calorie is required to raise the temp of 1cc of water 1 degree C.

Never again. HOAs are the worst.

As a guy who may be in the market for a highway commuter sooner than later, this is not at all unappealing. **Without the torpedo on the roof tho. ***And the wheels would certainly not be white.

I put an offer for this house while the realtor was trying to get her sign out of the car. Was in the neighborhood looking at another house, and was a little disappointed in the land size. Dude said to check this one, didnt even go in the house. Wandered around the yard and said ‘gimme’.

i should have taken less land/more trees, but i was a young dumb city boy.

As a pool professional, they're doing you a favor. Hot tubs are fucking gross, high temps and low water amount is a nightmare to keep stable. This goes for pools too but if you can smell it before you see it you shouldn't get in it. Actually that's just probably good life advice lol.

On the other hand you could probably get away with something like this since it's not technically permanent.

I like my neighborhood. The city is encroaching every day, but its not here yet. And the first few years the POA politics was buisness as usual, with shady dealings, extra bank accounts, cronyism… then for the last couple years it’s broken down to 2 ‘sides’ calling each other names. Those that had it, and the new people that dont really know what their doing. Pretty sure ive pissed and moaned about it before. Anyway, none of it bothers me. If i pay my dues before a certain date its only $75.

if everyone pays me $100 i wont build section 8 apartments in my front yard.

i’ve been cleaning the half of the trail i’d built, but our last POA president died, and all projects were put on hold, so ive been walking different routes, looking for somewhere that’ll be easy enough for dog walkers, thats the only people i see on it.

I have a double lot exactly twice the size of the one my houses is on, sitting semi-adjacent, but they're 9ft away from sharing a rear corner so no way to connect legally. Feels like getting to 3rd base over here.

So tempting not to do exactly what you wrote, but I'm not the only person invested in it, so main intent is to subdivide and build for decent ROI and maybe roll that into land we have targeted elsewhere.

Previously that double lot had a problematic meth head/tweaker there, from birth. Might've mentioned him before a few times. The war stories are funny, sad, and infuriating to say the least. Several neighbors came by with lawn chairs and drank beers while they were demolishing all the shanty-esque structures around the lot.
