Agreed, but heavy emphasis on the reliable. Depreciation is also better. Last truck from Big 3 was a Ram. Rebuilt transmission twice inside 100K miles. Brakes wouldn't last 20K miles. At 120K miles the radiator failed and basically totaled the engine and the truck.
Put 286K miles on a 4 Runner and replaced timing belts and power antennae. Have 100K on my '16 1794 and had to replace a door lock actuator. Just had it in for 100K mile service and Mechanic said she's easily good for another 100K.

A t least according to Consumer Reports late model F-150 has a littler better reliability than Ram, but Tundra is rated as twice as reliable as F-150. If interests rates spike, I will be curious to see if reliability/depreciation doesn't become more of a deciding factor again.

I'm wondering if it may have more to do with aerodynamics (improving airflow and redirecting air around the sides vs. above and below the vehicle)?

If you look at a side profile, the sides of the front front fenders, fender wells, etc. don't appear extremely out if proportion, given the extra length and space added behind the grill. I'm wondering if it's shaped as such differently, with more angle towards the sides as it goes towards the fenders. The potential aerodynamic affect and priority would seem to align with what we've heard so far regarding the redesign?

Hoping to finally see one in person at a dealer tomorrow as it's sounding like the truck does in fact look different in person vs. the pics we've seen so far.

My local dealer explained that this design and gap is for crushing space. It’s a place that absorbs impact and prevents damage to the engine….. unless at high impact!

This is what I believe. Didn’t the 2nd gen Toyota have the worst crash rating of the half tons after all? Remember they designed this truck to fix the biggest complaints about the old one. Safety, mileage, towing, ride quality, old tech. Personally I would prefer a little less safety for a little shorter truck. With more interior space. But I understand there reasoning for this design.

do you think that the engine being so far back is transferring more weight to the 12 bolt semi floating (I’m guessing) back axel with less weight on the front ? Thus reducing payload

Oem tonneau, side steps, spray in liner. Trd skidplate.

No to both. The only reason for the changes is the crash ratings, both pedestrian and offset front impact. Toyota didnt want too make a truck 5 inches too long for a garage in the suburbs, reduce a small amount of interior volume, etc. It is the regulations dictating design. Yes I will buy one. If its not your cup of tea, quit bitching.

I had a buddy at work call Toyota of Knoxville and "supposedly" this Limited/Wind Chill Pearl is unaccounted for..... He was looking for a specific SR5 they did not have.

Have no idea what they are asking or if there is a markup. I have bought 4 Toyotas from them and they probably have about a $1 million ADM added, but will probably take that off pretty easily.

Just thought by I would pass this along, but you never know who you talk to at dealers and maybe it really is sold....

Quote from Tim "This channel is 5 years in the making, and I've driven hundreds of trucks. and I've never seen a launch where I've been more confused. and I'm still confused. And I own the truck and I don't know what's on it"

    Sums up the launch perfectly.

Just saw where the new refreshed 2022 Silverado zr2 will start at 65k (66k+) with dest charges. It has the dssv shocks compared to fox on the pro. The zr2 has front and rear lockers where the pro only has rear. And of course it has tow hooks. On paper the zr2 has more to offer than the pro, so makes me wonder what the pro will start out at. Everyone is guessing 70+ but it would be hard to justify being higher than the zr2, to most people.

Payload is a function of curb weight and GVWR. It doesn't matter how the weight is distributed (unless you have a Ridgeline or Santa Cruz).

Pretty good one, gave Toyota kudos where they did well and hammered them where they did not. I really agree with what he was saying on the rear bed access, they really went backwards on that one.

That would put it at the zr2 price. I’m guessing the zr2 will be easier to come by and will probably be able to get below msrp once and if everything gets back close to normal. It’s possible that gm will only make a limited number of them, but they see how well the trail boss and at4 sales did, so I’m guessing they’ll make plenty of them. The pro will probably be an order or waiting list thing and will be lucky to get it at msrp. I know back before the supply problems, you could get the gm 10-15k off. Mine had a sticker of 57k and I got it for 42k back in 2019.

Saw these at Stevenson yesterday. The silver TRD with color match was a pretty good looking truck, the all silver tailgate without all the weird black accents made the rear end acceptable if not beautiful. The front looks pretty sharp with the color match. I think the color matched body styles looked way better, they also had a silver SR5 with the black detailing on the tailgate and it was ugly AF. They are only adding a $1500+/- handling and delivery charge to MSRP, no market adjustments if anyone in Denver is looking.

The Silver TRD isn't color matched up front. That grille surround is chrome. Not trying to be a dick, but the pics aren't matching up with what you are writing about.

    Which one?

The green one might be just added wheels, but the silver one has a TRD package. You can see the TRD to the right of the Toyota oval in the grille.

I think he meant, color matched door handles and mirror caps, but I agree the chrome grill throws it off.

See the window stickers. The green one was the basic base model SR5 with minimal add-ons. The Silver is TRD premium.
It's ok, you only sound a little like a dick... I am well aware the grill surround is chrome, haven't seen one with a matched grille yet, although the green one has a black grill surround. I was referring to the tailgate, door handles, mirror caps, etc. The ones with black accents look terrible, the solid colors looked pretty good. I'll be more specific... lol

I was saying it in hopes you had inadvertently posted the wrong pics and we might get to see a truly color matched truck.

All good, just messing with you anyway... I have some parts on order there, I'll get some pictures of the tailgates etc. next time I'm there. I've seen 4 there so far, the silver TRD was the best looking. They had a 1794 the other day, that was kind of meh... The wood looked nice, but I've never been a real fan of the brown leather. They seem to be getting one every couple of days, so I'll post a full color match if one shows up. Mostly wanted to point out that the solids with the mirror caps, etc. look much better in person than the chromed out ones. The grill isn't as annoying when it's the only chrome. It blends in ok with the silver. The 1794 was mesquite and it was much more overwhelming.
