Just went back under to take off the the transmission skid. Now my neck hurts. Hopfully it fixes the shaking. The shaking did get annoying after a while.

I packed up a set of plates only to find out it was a canceled order. I looked through ALL the future orders and there are none.

I have a set of 1/4 aluminum powder coated black front and rear cat plates, currently packed up with an 8 piece Pentagon bolt set (this can change) I can ship this tomorrow if anyone wants some quick. I will also allow for upgrades to current orders

I had to do the same thing. Called my dad to come over and help, it went a lot faster with two people.

Curious, were you experiencing vibration at different RPM's before removing that? I just installed mine last weekend and was told the spacers weren't necessary any more, but the instructions didn't say to remove that other plate so I left it on. And I don't hear too much rattling but am experience some annoying vibrations.

The instructions on my website are dated and don’t have that very important part in it. I need to update 3rdtundra’s instructions and add it to the website.

Along those lines, I have officially moved to 1/2” bolts instead of 5/8” bolts for the Z bracket to frame. This makes install a 2 tool job, unless you get all Pentagon bolts, then it is one socket for them all. There were issues with some not having 15/16 tools to install the larger 5/8’s bolts so I have simplified it. Currently 5/8’s bolts will continued to be sent with sequoias until my stock of bolts runs out. The only spot that currently uses a 5/8’s bolt is in the center post of the front skid plate, but I am not sure I want to change that point

That skid bolt is holding up quite a bit of weight, regardless of which metal one might choose. Also, wish I'd taken some pics for you, but if you get to update the instructions, you might note that the bolt for the center post does fit through the hole in the frame crossmember if dropped in from the top; albeit a little tight. Putting the nut on from the bottom rather than from the top made a big difference when I attacked mounting the skid by myself.

You have to hold the washer against the head of the bolt while you're fishing it down the hole, and you have to point the head of the bolt kinda toward the passenger-side headlight. The sweet spot is only about a degree and a half on either axis. Once you find it, though...

I'm sorry I meant vibrations. I took the trans skid plate off, now there's no more vibrating at idle.

Anyone notice mpg gains after install?

I know smoothing out surfaces for airflow along the bottom of cars/trucks is generally a good thing.

Even a 1mpg gain would see sales skyrocket. I track every fill-up, when my plates finally come in I’ll keep an eye on it. I ordered the front skid plate so it would be a continuous surface.
Likely would only affect 60+mph mileage, and minimally if anything.

1/8 steel rears are going to powder coat today, my cutter is working through the weekend to knock these out. Next week the front skid plates will be done with the rest of that batch.

@Classy63 when install the plate with an existing trd pro skid, do you re use the pro skid bolts, or do you use the supplied bolts from your plates? Or no difference?

anything look off on my install, or does it look like I did it correct hah? I banged on it don’t hear any metal rattle noises, sounds solid, bolted down nice and tight, my only thing was the brackets not seating flush on the frame as shown in the picture, seems to just be against the little dot thingy.

You probably want a washer between the nut and z-bracket.

Also, the thing that looks most off - - how the hell is your trucks undercarriage so clean? Mine looked like a mud puddle by the time I'd gotten it home from the dealer...

That’s easily fixable, tried using the 3 supplied for filling the gap between the bracket and rear plate, so I’ll have to just fiddle with the spacing a bit. As far as clean, well I guess that’s what 2 miles a day commute on city streets does for you lol, trucks for 560 miles on it after 3 months.
