Test drove a 2022 today...Not convinced

Please let us know about your experience when you get it. I had heard of a lot of concerns with initial quality (fit and finish) on those trucks but that was a couple years ago so maybe they've tidied that up.

 

I'm on the list for a 22. I'm at xplan for it IF I get it . I'm not holding my breath. I'm deep on a list and based on 21 allocation numbers I'll be in '23 or '24/

 

@Cpl_Punishment Will do! They are seeing some small problems from the factory on this current gen, but hoping they will be fixed by the time they get to mine. Nothing big, just small aggravating stuff that requires a trip to the dealer. While no manufacturer is perfect, Toyota makes fools of the competition in the quality control category IMO.

 

Are we sure this is an SR5? Most SR5 I’ve seen don’t have the big screen. Any pictures of the window sticker??

Real leather is only in the Plat and 1794. Softex is even in the TRD Pro.

 

Well then I wonder what upgrade package this has

I agree, front looks OK but the back is just hideous.

I just saw a loaded SR5 and its 56K plus 10K adjustment... Even for 56K I am not impressed. It has stuff you expect a truck to have for 56K. I was more impressed with my 2020 SR5 DC for 42.5(after rebates) with dual climate, parking sensors and BSM. I dont see myself buying a Tundra anytime soon..

 

With higher payload than the 2.5 gen...

 

I think the 14" comes in the 'premium sound" upgrade. SR5 has a lot of packages. To get basically everything it's like a $9400 in options.

 

iirc, more power and higher tow capacity too.

 

Do you think the platinum suspension is upgraded more towards off road making the ride feel better on the regular 2022?

 

I was thinking the same thing. Front grill in pics doesn't make it. Waiting to see one on the road.

The battery is "charging" ... Priceless piece of info!
As useless as my '16 mpg bar. It's 30mpg now, 1 sec later oh wait, it's 10mpg now, 2 sec later it's now 15mpg ... What a waste of display.
Why not display the ATF temp instead like GMC.

I like the lights near the shifter.

 

It is an SR5 but had the premium audio package and that includes the oversized screen. I honestly did not like that big of a screen.

 

I couldn't understand why it kept saying battery charging either, it's not a hybrid so that's useless info

 

If it held 10lbs more people would get excited lol as if the difference between a large dog is something to write home about

 

get your ribeye from costco. 4 for $5x, yes it went up in price and it is choice but still a ribeye.

 

My F150 says this because it has stop/start technology. When the vehicle is driven after sitting for a while, the display will say something similar to this because the function is turned off until the battery is fully charged. Is this start/stop tech in the Tundra?

SO glad to be keeping my 2014 for 5 to 7 more years.
I'll get a lightly used Gen 3 from someone that bought one and can't afford it.

Hell, if the Gen 3 ends up being sh!te, I'll start looking at Fords and Chevys for my next pickup when the time comes..

 

And LESS interior volume!

 

As well as larger turning radius and longer overall length! Bigger is better right?

 

People like to follow every rule to the T. Let's not look at the numbers to much because if we do then you'd see 1 atv, a guy and his stuff would likely exceed the payload sticker on the door.

That payload sticker is a joke, fill up with fuel and put your family in it and go get weighed. Very easy to exceed the payload if you aren't a single man who does no off road activity and has no family and doesn't work the truck at all.

So my 2021's leather interior is not leather at all? It smelled like it too

 

Don't when they started using it.
I know in 2014 I had the dealer add leather to my 2014 SR5.
It came out of a Limted.
It started looking pretty bad after 4 years, replaced the front with Katzkin.
I keep a dog cover on the back seat, it still looks new.
