TFL mentioned this on their review and said they didn't have any of those issues on theirs. I haven't had a chance to watch the video, but is this an issue with phone compatibility or just not setting up right in the beginning?
I think it's mainly the height and especially the height of the hood. Probably more aerodynamic I bet if that 22 had a leveling kit or lift on it, it would look about the same size.

The 2022 is sitting further back and the 21 is lifted. Deceiving pic angle also

For being at elevation that Ram sure is impressive with that hemi, I would of thought the tundra would of done better. trx is just an awesome truck, my neighbor bought a blue one and that v8 supercharged engine just sounds fantastic.

Who do you think makes that lightbar for the PRO?
Also, does anyone know the specs on that light bar?

I'd like to compare it to some aftermarkets to see how weak and lame the stock one probably is.

I like that TRX the more I see it...its impractical for me, but I would say, if I were going to buy a impractical truck right now, that might be top of the list. Especially with the tundra prices knocking so close.

True for overall dimensions, but the 2022 has more hood and less cab, so it may be less actual volume and therefore appear smaller.

I want to measure one in person. It says the 22 platinum is taller than my 21 TRD pro was by almost an inch. Idk about that.

Eeesh the painted red tow hooks. Perhaps if the whole truck was red. Maybe. But anything else, tres gauche! Lol to each their own but I don’t dig the look personally.

I had the opportunity to see 3 Tundras right of the transport unit, all had 5 to 6 miles on the odometer. Tech will do his thing and add 3 to 10 additional miles depending on the drive. I would not want my truck test driven multiple times to see how fast the turbos are… most salesman won’t allow that on a sold unit.

Not saying you are wrong , but I hope you are not 100% right. I pray copying "the big 3" was not the primary design philosophy of this truck. This would be a real departure from Toyota's obsessive focus on practical innovation and continuous improvements to real world reliability. Generally, Toyota is not known for following the crowd chasing the latest style or gimmicky feature. Toyota has slowly grown to dominate many segments by steadily obsessing on building a something better. That philosophy has served them well, at least if you measure by market share globally. However, you might still be right. Look no further than the latest Land Cruiser. Sad that was not brought from the US, but the market is the ultimate arbiter and last generation sales were abysmal.

Wow. From this angle it's not flattering for the 3rd gen at all. The 2nd gen looks SO much better, they're not even close - the gen 2 looks very classy and refined in this shot. Not happening for the 3rd gen. Don't put them together like this anymore, you're not doing gen 3 any favors!

I think the joke has always been we were buying a less optioned reliable f150. That was definitely true with the 2nd Gen. F-150 is the king, so Toyota has always benchmarked off of them. At least that's what I have read and heard in videos.

I have a 17 Platinum Crewcab with the standard 38 gallon tank and it will say it's at empty with basically 0 miles left on the screen but I will will have 10+ gallons in the tank being it will fill up with only 27 gallons or so. I asked the dealership about and stated that it's a reserve that's not counted towards the available miles display.

At the start of this video, there’s a glimpse of a red trd pro in the in traffic at a red light, and it looks a lot better for some reason than it does in all the review videos. The grill doesn’t look as big. There’s also a couple in silver that I haven’t seen much of. Too bad the pro doesn’t come in this color.

The 22 Limited I saw in person looked and felt really small to me too. It was weird the truck looked lowered and just smaller like it’s size is between a Tacoma and a 2.5 gen Tundra. Not sure why it’s gives off this effect, very nice truck but something seems off.

The family jewels to any pickup truck is the engine.
So Toyota did an about face with the V6TT.
The measures that Toyota went to - to accommodate this new engine is extraordinary.
This attached picture is from the TFL video.

IMO -this space in front of the engine is one example. And still I can't believe how far back the engine is. When you take up this much real estate and make the hood this much longer, it affects the rest of the trucks physical proportions and driving dynamics.
This IMO is why even though it is a larger vehicle than the previous gen. Its interior cab and bed dimensions are smaller.
Toyota obviously felt for their target customers, they had enough leeway to do this.

Have we received a full answer on this? Clearly it has to do with crash safety, but I wonder if it allows more cold, moving air to hit all parts of the engine and turbos for a massive decrease in heat build up. If that is the case, you would think Toyota would be shouting it from the hill tops- “we extended the front 5in and we’re able to drop engine/ turbo temps by 50 degrees vs the competition”

I also wonder if it is designed to future-proof the engine bay for different engine options. Likely it's not, but they do have a lot of extra space now in case they need it.

I thought that area had to do with pedestrian crash safety. It also seems to have a lot to do with making it more difficult to attach recovering hooks since the actual frame is so far back.

It's to allow for spacing for the TTV8 that's coming with the Capstone trim.

A macro change is always followed by micro changes in support.
The Macro Global focus/view is Better Mileage >>>>EV.
    this begat Micro Changes

    Engine - V6TT, Hybrid

Body - Lower, streamlined, front end now needed to be beefed up for crash worthiness, active air dam added for mileage, no 4auto 4wd, and tow hooks due to mileage penalty. Batteries stored under the back seat - lost space.

The focus of the previous post was trying to understand why it became smaller on the interior and in the bed. if we review what is under the bed better we will understand why for the bed dimensions. Its shallower and they have added tabs on the side of the bed I assume for aerodynamics less turbulence. JMO
