Interesting. It fit the 6’ YouTube testers.

I currently drive a 2018 Tacoma Double Cab Long Bed. Was contemplating the move up to a Tundra as some towing might be in my future. Rear leg room is one of the considerations for the times I have a couple of passengers.

Here's what I came up with in comparing the Tacoma to the 2021 Tundra Dbl Cab, 2022 Tundra Dbl Cab and 2022 Tundra CrewMax as far as rear leg room
    Tacoma '21 dbl '22 dbl '22 crew
    32.6" 37.7" 33.3" 41.6"

So it looks llike the 22 dbl cab loses 4" of leg room vs the 21 and is marginally bigger than my current Tacoma. That's a little disappointing given the overall size of the '22 dbl cab Tundra. FWIW I need or rather want the 6 1/2 bed for the gear I tend to carry so my decision is going to come down to the dbl cab or crewmax longbed.

Drove by the local stealership last night and they had a 2022 Tundra outside, so I decided to get out and give it a look. It definitely looks better in person. Just don't like how low it appears to sit compared to the 2nd gen, but that can be fixed.

Interesting everything I have seen said 1.5” loss from 21 dc to 22 dc. However if the tundra dc is in fact larger then the Tacoma double cab then it will be great as I have rode comfortably in the back of my buddies Tacoma doublecab. I have the Tacoma access cab And have had a passenger back there less then 6 times in 10 years and it worked fine.

Touching to almost touching the seat in front of them without someone kind enough to move the seat forward a touch.

He’s getting very “FUSTRATED” but I get his complaints. I hope and assume Toyota will be fixing some of this nonsense soon.

If it’s the pano roof there is a small cavity in the back that’s great. But you got 1/2 inch any direction you’re hitting ceiling

Yota front diffs seem very stout to me. Don't recall many issues. Hell, seems they've used the same front diff design in the 4WD IFS since '95. All of mine seemed the same.

Hopefully the new lineups don't have the ridiculous 10mm Allen fill and drain plugs, they are problematic, I hate them so much. Pinions don't seem to be a problem and there's millions of Yota IFS 4WD's on the road worldwide

I meant leg room. I wouldn’t buy a truck with moon roof anyway. This truck with pano would be a poor choice for a really tall person you’re right. The ceiling just seems to short.

First, I didn't watch the video, but if GM stayed true to their norms, they haven't changed their cheap interior plastics since the '90s. Part of why I'd never buy a vette; GM interior.

Second, I agree with Zoidberg. Never been able to get comfortable in a GM truck.

21' double cab is listed at 34.7" for rear leg room, not 37.7". So a 1.4" decrease.

Rear leg room felt tighter than the previous gen. my biggest gripe was the hump in the center felt more intrusive than the 21. My test I set the front seat and then get in the back. I'm 6'3 so it's a good test. The 21 was great. The 22 is still good but def felt reduced. And sitting position felt more upright than the previous gen too.

Was the seat bottom deeper on the 22' compared to the 21'? kind of looks like it from the pictures. Might explain why the leg room looks like it was reduced more than the listed specs of 1.4". This would be a good thing for my dog who will be riding back there most of the time. I find the 2nd gens are a little shallow

The back seat hump is a definite issue.

The more I think about the tow hooks, the more I wonder if their absence isn’t indicative of how Toyota views their target market and how that view may have influenced the truck’s design.

    And, no 4A.

I’m starting to wonder if this thing is truck enough.

That makes sense since the rear room is smaller.

Rear seat bottom is def shorter. Not by a whole lot but the 21 would almost go to my knee crease. The 22 didn't get as close. Reminds me more of my f150 rear seat bottom

I thought the interiors were supposed to be much better for 22 but they probably still trail the Rams.

you can get the 6.5 in the crew max tundra. the dcab and the crew max are the same size in either 5.5 or 6.5 config

edit: to clarify in exterior dimensions and wheelbase. its only when you jump up the the 8ft does the wheelbase and length are different

They've kept the same buttons and plastic for several of the last reworks, but they moved them around the dash. They feel, and are, cheaply made. 2 year old trucks with illegible buttons and switches because the paint or whatever wears off, steering wheels that were disintegrating, and upper door/pillar panels that were falling off when you closed the door were not uncommon on the trucks at work. I'd say about 1 in 4 to maybe 1 in 6 would have at least one of these issues.

Now, for 2022 maybe GM went outside the box and did something quality for their interiors, but I wouldn't be getting my hopes up.

Are you sure? How is that even possible? I thought I saw the Dbl Cab with 6.5' bed was 233" overall length and the CrewMax with 6.5' bed was 245" overall length. The CrewMax with 5.5' bed was same length as the Dbl Cab at 233.

I think he was trying to say the DC 6.5' and the CrewMax 5.5' are identical in overall length.

Agreed on many points for many people. Others very much intend to use it "as advertised" It would seem Toyota believes this as well emphasizing their well deserved heritage in the commercial below.
Toyota = Off Road to most of the planet.....and then they went and left off recovery hooks :annoyed:
