20201209_155719.jpg Hey Im wondering if anybody can find out how many 2021 Tundras with the night shade special addition were made. I have one, a double cab 4x Limited magnetic grey loaded I factory ordered it with TRD exhaust and added the cool hood scoop (Robert at Traditional) that matches perfectly with only 6,500 miles Im thinking of trading for a 2022 Tundra Is this going to be a sought after truck ?? I read Toyota was going to build only 5,000 in the Tundra Model. Anybody interested?? Jeff

As time goes on we're going to see lots of reviews on the 22', you should give it a little time before you make your decision. It's hard to say what the market will be for 21's and older, guess we'll have to wait and see. I know your truck is somewhat rare - I've only seen one in my travels and it was at a Ft Worth Tx dealership.

Nice truck by the way -

2021 Calendar year had about 90k Tundras built, I recall while back some claim 30% to 35% are double cabs, that puts it at 27k to 35k DC's made, it is possible that Toyota made less than 5000 double cab Limited with nightshade trim, but usually they do not release specific production details, this does not include 2021 MY as a whole, but only calendar year.

You are probably best off to see what Vroom/Carvana have to offer, I think the prices have come down a bit after 2022MY start hitting the showroom.

Thanks :) I ordered it 9/20 when I couldn't find a remaining 2020 with all the options I wanted. My salesperson asked would you like to order a 21!!
I said OH that would be cool, I never "ordered" a vehicle before. So got on Toyotas build site, at that time only 2 Limited packages were available TRD or Nightshade I was tempted to get the TRD pkg but when I really looked at the nightshade it was so cool cause I liked the Sport pkg and TRD with no chrome. Nightshade pkg was only available in 3 colors. The magnetic gray just happened to be my 1st color chose! It all came together nicely. I wanted the TRD exhaust pkg and the cool hood scoop. I thought I would start seeing more of the nightshades running around. I just recently discovered only 5K were to be built. Maybe I don't want a 22, I've only 6500 miles now. I may happen to have a rare factory-built Tundra. I wonder if I can find out from Toyota how many were actually built and what my nightshade production is. BTW Lassen Toyota and Traditional autobody gets THUMBs up for such a great job!
    I really appreciate your posts.

2022 isn't getting stellar reviews. A lot of the magic around why you love your current truck did not make it over into the new model.

Put a super charger on your 5.7 and upgrade to a 10.1 Kenwood head unit. You'll be much happier all around IMO.

It's not a power issue at all, I just wished the fuel ratings were like the 22 has. But I knew that going into my 21 and love the truck anyway :)
Twin turbos sounds bitchin but I would have to trade that for the coolest sounding TRD exhaust :(

MPGs are marginal in the V6 turbo. Will be better in the hybrid, but real world so far is only seeing around 18-19 mpg.

Your not saving any money jumping ship for those kind of gains.

I don't think you will find many people on here that would objectively agree that trading in a sub 6k mile 2021 for a new 2022 is worth the hit. Maybe the hybrid will change the equation?

Right now the new truck gripes I see are:
    Smaller inside
    Longer outside
    Bigger turning radius
    18-19mpg real world
    Drives "bigger" than a 2.5gen
    No tow hooks
    Smaller interior bed
    Uncomfortable seats
    Infotainment software issues
Wireless charging problems (slides around and won't stay in a charging state).

All that aside, that's just my .02. If you get a new one post pics, lots of eager ppl in here chomping at the bit to get one.

Ive known Robert for 25 years He's co-owner of Traditional Autobody in West Salem I believe they do the best work in Salem He set a body camera on the hood where he was going to install the hood scoop He joked and said you would have to pick one of the hardest color to match. I kept my fingers crossed. When I picked the truck up it was an exact match.
At that same time Robert recommended Willie Walls owner of Rugged Cross for some other detail work I need on our 4Runner, Thats how I got started on PNW Tundras ! Sorry always a long story

I saw a post from diablodalton has same headlights I have on my 21 But my son has a 20 limited with the black inside instead of chrome
Mine being a Night shade pkg it too should have the black panels inside the headlight bucket. diablodalton sold his chrome and bought black I was wondering could they be dissembled and painted black or is it imposable Here my son has a 20 limited all chrome front nose and he has the black ones Strange was it a year change?
see mine in the pictures at the very top

Headlights and taillights can be fully disassembled. There are a few DIY threads on it. It just takes skill and a lot of care to have a good looking end result. Many folks will just buy instead of attempting.

I'm curious, what did the Kenwood head unit do for you vs the stock, I have one of the last 21 Tundra's with the apple car play n what not
and was thinking of waiting a year for bugs to be worked out and getting a Tesla tablet style head unit upgrade in 22, the only thing i've noticed sound wise is my factory jbl's can't handle real heavy bass but otherwise sounds good so any advice going forward would be
super appreciated as this site has done me wonders in choosing the right upgrades and mods so far, i'm at 912 miles so about to do the
1k oil change and already have the replacement metal filter cap, spout drain set up etc as well as filters and oil already sitting in my shop
