Honestly, you're not wrong, but the whole discussion is centered around iPhone vs. Android. I'm thinking it'd be better if it were 'Android vs iOS' or 'iPhone vs. Samsung' or something.

I've owned mainly Samsung Android phones in the past; were I to own another one I'd likely try out the Pixel for the same reason I like iPhones - Google 'owns' Android and it also directs how the Pixel is made.

I'm in a technical job (server/desktop admin). Maybe I'm the outlier.

In my case, the nerd in me 'likes' Android more...but I have to fix enough sh*t during the day that I DON'T want to have to do the same thing to my phone. I just want my phone to work at the end of the day. That, plus where I live, locally, it's easier to get my iPhone repaired/replaced. I WILL say that the last two Android phones I've owned had better reception, though not by much, now that Apple is *finally* using Qualcomm chipsets.

 

Honestly, this is kind of why I like iPhones. No not because I'm technically illiterate (lol - or else my clients are screwed), but because they tend to not enact huge changes from update to update.

If you think about it, Apple is kind of the Toyota of the smartphone world.

 

iPhone - for much better privacy and security that has been backed up by research. And while I am a techy, I want a phone that just works. If I want to play, I'll get something to play with. I have considered getting an SDK to play with writing iPhone apps, but there is no time right now to do that.

Android for sure, almost everyone I work with that has iPhone bitches about them.

I would tend to agree with this as of late. The hardware in older iphones were kinda bad (or maybe the updates were intense), so that when the "latest and greatest" ios update would come out, it would absolutely tank the phone to the point that its almost unusable. Now they are basically mini laptops and have no problems handling whatever "must have" features that they sell you on.

I used to have samsung phones. Had the first galaxy big screen phone (s2?) then a Note3, then went with the Nexus 5 and then the Nexus 7, then Pixel 1, 3xl, and now 6pro.
I dont think that i'll ever get a non pixel phone. For the times that i had the samsung phones, there was never any securty patches and you maybe got 1 OS update, i guess its up to the carrier to push those updates. On the pixel phones, you get patches and updates directly from google, usually on a monthly basis.

 

The answer is Android. there is a reason why 80% of cell phones are android and the other less than 20% are people who like to be different and make life harder on themselves.

i shared this on FB back in the day and got some heat from people. there's a few others similar to this about how they're saying but now the iphone is waterproof, and they respond with yea, android has had that for a while now....and so on with other features. it's funny

 

This gives me flashbacks of working at Best Buy/Geek Squad circa 2009... now I need a drink.

 

I get threatened for not having an iphone. They keep threatening to send me an iphone. In return my android infects their iphones in iMessage.

iPhone, Apple has its dirty hooks in me now. Can’t turn back. Everything is connected, watch, iPad and iphone. Oh yeah and MacBook. If you own Apple stock my family is responsible for many of those gains.

IOS is popular in more sophisticated countries like Japan and the US. Android owns the third word market.

Not sure Chattanooga has more in common with the "sophisticated" countries or the 3rd world markets. Might be in the middle ground as a sophisticated 3rd world market.
