What sliders do you have? Several sets have been reviewed for how the plates fit with sliders.

From a little earlier in the thread (because I had the same question)

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/val...-and-ordering-post.84911/page-84#post-2491210

This is the current hardware per that post (as of Nov 10, 2021)

    So I ordered 4 of the "1/2 to 9/16" for the 4 1/2 bolts, 2 of the "3/8 to 7/16" for the 2 3/8 bolts, and 2 of the "5/8 to 3/4" protectors for the 2 5/8 bolts.

My plates haven't come in yet so if I got them wrong, I haven't found out yet :)

    This is the correct answer.

The sizes listed on the Barnes site for the bolt protectors is for the bolt shaft. The head of all the bolts are shy of the top of the protector wall regardless of the protector size, but since the space the bolt head fits on mine are all the same size, some of the bolts have a lot of space between the protector wall and bolt head. (pic below - I hope that made sense). A tighter tolerance would add protection from vise-grips or other pliers attempting to turn the bolt head; as long as it provides enough room to get a socket on the bolt head.

I don't have the rear plate installed yet, so I have some of the bolts to show what's what.

The penta bolts I ordered have lots of room for pliers to play:
    20211213_163939.jpg

And the penta socket has plenty of room as well:
    20211213_164038.jpg

If I'd ordered the smaller protection washer for these it would have cleaned that up.

Also, specifically for the two 5/8 bolts, they won't fit in my 9/16 protection washers. Wonder why...
    20211213_163922.jpg

So much for 'just do it the easy way and make them all the same'. I'll order two more appropriately sized washers, but probably only after I injure myself trying to drill these out.

Yes, those are crocs. No I'm not ashamed.

@Classy63 since this list of hardware was awhile back when you were thinking of changing the z bracket bolts from 5/8 to 1/2, did that happen yet for say my shipment that just went out? That way I order the right size protector. Also is there as much of a benefit on the z bracket bolts having protectors? Or if those got cut would the other bolts still ultimately hold the plates in position where they did there job?

This is a heads up to those who ordered the pentagon bolts, I am completely out of 3/8x4 and I don’t even have tracking numbers for the 2 orders from the 2 different places… I may have your plates if you ordered pentagon bolts I am waiting on one of the orders to come in. Gotta love shortages and delays…

I got the 3/8”-7/16” washers and used 3/8” bolts and had to chuck the socket up in my FIL’s lathe. So now I am probably the only one who has the 2 sockets that will take these bolts out of these washers.

Thank you. Seems that I can get the skid plate and front one. Don’t really want to modify the plates. So hopefully it will deter cat thieves enough.

    Nice.

I hope the thinner wall doesn't result in a broken socket. I might rely more on the lock-nut in your case, than additional torque.

Material shortages caused a delay for 1/8 steel. I am supposed to get a very large amount of 1/8 plates and more this week.

I am almost completely out of August, September and October. I am waiting on this load to finish all 3 months off. This load will also catch me up until November 21st.

Question, will the 3/16 plate shield flex and rattle under my truck? I am wanting it for CAT protection only.

Yea. Make sure you remove the black transmission plate and you will be in good shape! I have the 3/16 aluminum plates and while there is a slight flex due to tightening I feel they are well equipped to do the job and the lighter weight allows me to continue to have dessert after my favorite meal!

I wouldn’t use an impact wrench on it. It is still thick enough to handle the appropriate amount of torque for the bolt.

I did an install this past week with the Barnes washers, I shaved the socket of the pentagon bolts to clear the Barnes washers. I had no problems but I did more of a knife edge on the socket, it is plenty deep if the edge breaks to shave it again. Worst case, I can always get you another socket

I didn’t ship out as much as I wanted too today, Fed Ex came REALLY early

Is this something your going to offer in the future? Like an add on kit? I don’t have the equipment or know how to shave a socket.

I have your front and rear cat plates but you are another victim of the pentagon bolts being delayed. Your front skid plates should be done this week, I just don’t have an exact date yet

I could if you asked nicely haha!

Tyler, I just wanted to see were you were at with my orders? I know you're having delays with the Pentagon bolts. I'll happily take regular bolts in the meantime. Thanks.
