    It seems like all of us live in pretty cool places.
    In the 1st gen section, I loan out a bearing removal and insertion tool, send it out, and all I really ask for in return is something local(beer is number one) but anything that I’ve never seen or touched is always something cool!!!

    I'm a little behind on the thread, so bear with me.

    My wife's strength is the reason I married her.
    My second marriage after being divorced for 14 years.

    Some men don't like strong opinionated women.
    I do, my wife is with me because she wants to be, not because she NEEDS to be.
    She doesn't need me or my money.
    She was doing just fine when we met, as was I.

    I couldn't be with, or respect, the doormat women some guys are looking for in a spouse or GF.
    Some men want to control the women in their lives, I want my wife to be herself.
    I don't want control over anyone.

    She can handle herself.
    She got hassled by a homeless guy in downtown Dallas this year, where she works, walking from her parking garage to the office.
    I'd like to go into the verbal details that came out of his mouth, but not here.
    In the end, he backed down very quickly when he realized she wasn't taking his aggressive mouthing off..
    She told him to fuck off in no uncertain terms, he ran off.
    She says the homeless in downtown Dallas are getting worse, in numbers and behaviorally.

    We've had a rough weekend.
    Not really actively searching for a move, but she found a place we both liked.
    We looked at it Saturday and loved it.
    We made an offer on what would have been our retirement dream house.
    Acre lot, no more HOA subdivision BS, established properties around it, and getting out of the city.
    Asking $350K, we offered $375K, we got outbid in this market.
    The house went for over $400K, no way we would have paid that for it, even though we loved it.

    It wasn't meant to be, but we learned from it.
    We know exactly what we have now, what it will sell for, and how much we would end up with after fees and paying off the existing mortgage if we sold it.
    We are gonna stay here at least until we both retire, 5 to 7 years.
    We don't hate where we live.
    We love our house, 1/4 acre lot (not bad for a subdivision), and have decent enough neighbors.
    But we don't like the massive home building around us without the infrastructure to back it up.

    Sorry for the saga, I just needed to vent...
    I do love my wife................

    Note to self, scratch Dallas off the list of places to retire. Don’t think I could convince the wife anyway to move back to Texas. We lived in San Antonio and I will never forget seeing her flip on the kitchen light with a roller pin in her hand smashing cockroaches as they ran for their life. Last day living there she got stung by a scorpion. Nope don’t see that happening again. Happy wife happy life!
