Kind of odd that he started following all of us but I was thrown off by his account being created before he was banned originally. If it really was him, does he even own a 2019 CM Tundra? He WAS spending all his time here instead of the 2.5 gen forum, so maybe that was the tip off along with the Laird comments.

I hope it wasn’t me ragging on your welds?
I always try to help, especially if someone is actually trying, not just expecting gold dumped in their lap.
I also try to give different perspective to come to the same final conclusion. I always try to be open minded for suggestions, and interpret and implement them how I see fit.
I’m not a good welder by any means, but set up and prep are key just like many other things. I’m saying this because these are things I fought this weekend; I used two 50’ extension cords for a job that was no further than 35’ from an outlet; welding machines hate extension cords. I then pulled the smaller cord out of the equation, but still having issues getting a good arc going. Moved the settings around a little and had better luck, but the gun got super hot and started spatting again. So I went to check the chickens with the boys and had better luck once it cooled down. Lastly, know what your equipment can actually weld, my machine definitely can’t weld 3/16 plate, but I did…… manipulation and practice come into play here. I also know my lead for my stinger is to long, and I know that can cause issues(young and dumb)
So keep on keepin on! You will only get better with practice and playing around with different techniques.
These are some of my better puddles once I got shit sorted out, but still could use a lot of help.

 

Since we’re talking about welding, I set up a dedicated breaker and circuit for my 110 welder using 10/3 cable and the difference between the welds on the house circuit and with the dedicated circuit is night and day.

The machine can only do what it can with the supplied juice. Gotta give it the good stuff or expect trouble.

 

So my dedicated outlet is a old run for the stove so it’s 8 or 10 like you have. I still feel like my longer lead is giving me issues, I guess I threw the old one away; which doesn’t sound like me!

also if you can, move the piece to your benefit, don’t fight the puddle, make it work for you!
I flipped the trailer like 6 times yesterday so I could “try” and lay down a good bead.

 

an aftermarket bumper & winch will hide most of that front end insanity.

There's a reason I'd been ribbing since the 'who are the first gen folks' thread. I had strong suspicions.

I'm pretty sure there's a 3rd account (and a 4th?) that's been active recently, possibly others. But I'm not about to out it. I think a few others have their suspicions too.

More than one permabanned person has returned. There's at least one mostly lurking and one relatively active right now. Not my place to out anyone.

No @FrenchToasty you didn't rag on me... but if you had that would have been great. Maybe I would have been laying down better beads.
Those look really good! Just like you said, I had to practice my technique (still do but I'm seeing good improvement) and really need to spend more time on prep and cleaning before even flipping the switch. Great work there I would tell you what to do better if I saw anything!

 

One day I’ll get a 220v machine at the house. But I get by with the small miller I have. I fought a slew of self imposed mistakes, probably passed down from my father. I think if I get the right length stinger lead, and proper tips for appropriate wire, I’ll be able to CONSISTENTLY lay down good beads. That’s my problem now, it’s hit or miss, and no method to the madness, which really pisses me off because I can usually excel at these things. But I think mo power is what is holding me back……

 

Definitely wasn’t expecting that. So long to my plans for an OEM looking push button. Back to the blank and either RedArc brake controller in the middle or camera controller or attempt to squeeze both side by side.

 

@alb1k and @FrenchToasty I'll be breaking in my new welder soon and you can both make fun of my welds. I haven't welded anything in 13 years and back then it was just welding end bits to my Spartan machines(drain cleaners) with an old arc welder. I was doing pretty good on those though.
