Official 2022 Tundra 3rd Gen Thread

yeah being stupid in the winters over the younger years up here ruined my primary hand (dominate right hand). doing stuff when its -10F or colder without proper gloves or going to0 long without gloves.

paying for it now.

 

Ya I think Toyota designed the seats to be comfortable to the average person. The average person is like 5’7”? This is a example why the tfl guys opinions should be taken lightly. They are going to tank this truck in all there competitions do to this and tow hooks. Gas’s mileage challenge? Best in class but no tow hooks so it comes in last and my 6’3” self didn’t enjoy the seats while testing.

 

Me too, the 4x4 TRD Sport in lunar rock looks fantastic and can be had at $50k approximately. Wish it had a rear locker. I wonder how much it would be to install a rear locker. I would glide a Fox suspension upgrade anyway…..

 

Yet again kicking the ass of the 5.7 lol can’t wait to drive one of these new TT’s.

 

It's received so-so reviews because it just does everything it's supposed to ok, it doesn't stand out like many thought it would. But that is on par with Toyota for the most part. The seats are subjective but even to a 5'7 individual they still might be uncomfortable depending how your built. My 2012 taco I was able to get the thigh extenders with the trd package, wish they would have done that here.

Like it's said before in this thread many of us will move on now because the new truck won't meet our needs, many will stay and Toyota will pick up a new base possibly as well. For me no more tundras, the truck is expensive I'm in my the 50's building a sr5 with the tow features so 3/4ton gasser is better for me as it's similarly priced. For those who just drive around town and tow once to twice a year the new tundra will probably be great for them.

 

Oddly enough on Toyota builder I built a Limited Double Cab 4x4 that ended up being cheaper than the SR5 I built because a lot of stuff like the larger gas tank came standard.

 

Yeah I only use a truck for truck things so if the prices are similar might as well go to a 3/4 ton without having to worry about payload anymore for me. Not saying the Tundra is a bad truck but we already have a Daily driver vehicle.

 

That's exactly where I'm at, I have held onto my 2012 Tacoma and that's what I have been driving back and forth to work. 3/4ton on the weekends pulling the camper. I was messing around pricing out the tundra and 2500 Chevys and the price is very similar for how I would spec them.

 

i hear you. It seems a lot of people where expecting mind blowing technology that blows every other truck out of the water. But what Toyota did is make a truck that compares to the rest. If it’s as reliable as Toyota is known for I would say this is a awesome truck that meets my expectations and beets out the competition. I don’t tow 12k trailers and never plan to. Seeing what it does with 8k# up steep hills at 11k ft I know it will keep me plenty happy. And still drive comfortably.

 

I did the same and the difference was 1k, I’m set on a limited dc now. I don’t like the 20” wheels or all the crome but it might grow on me. If not? Aftermarket will fix it.

 

I'll wait to pass judgement on the seats til i sit in one, but I will be mad if they did make it smaller. I am 6'3" and the first time I sat in a 2.5 gen Tundra I was so happy with the seating position, basically allowing me to sit with my legs at 90 degrees like an office chair. Hearing that that may have gone away is disappointing.

 

The $1600 I owe on my 2020 is kicking the ass of the huge loan I'd owe on a 2022, and the 5.7L handles my towing needs just fine.

 

The loan you would have on a 2022 after trade in of your over valued 2020 would be pretty kick ass

Most manufactures require you to get into the truck and insert the key before putting it in gear to prevent that. Allows the truck to keep running and not have to be restarted.

 

Sort of. The truck I want runs at least $52K, and I can get at best $44K for mine, leaving me with $8K. I can easily afford it, and can pay it off in a matter of maybe 4 months, but I'd rather wait for now.

 

I don’t understand this argument and I saw it in the FB page. Most manufacturers kill it if you step in the brake without the fob once inside. How would shutting off at door open be any more secure?

 

The vehicle is locked until I open the door.

It should still be able to detect the fob being in the truck.

I got that but can your window be blown or lock popped? Locked wheels get chopped every day...

I know people who remote start their vehicle and have no line of sight and let it run for over 15 minutes before getting around to leaving.

start the truck remote start, get in, push the button once before you touch the brake.

you cant even put it in gear, if you touch the brake it dies, you cant shift it without touching the brake.

 

Never had remote start and thanks for the info.....so you must push a button on the fob before putting in gear? If that's the case, it is pretty stupid shutting it down when you open the door!

 

On a car with a typical key, you insert the key and turn it to on before touching the brake. On the push start, I believe you get in an push the start button before touching the brake.

 

re: all the concern raised re: no tow hooks on the front, sounds like a good aftermarket product.

 

Am I correct by saying you cannot get the 12 speaker JBL system in the SR5 even with the top package? Seems like you have to go Limited or higher to get it which is BS if true.
