Saw SOAD down back in 98 at this small venue here in Austin (which unfortunately closed down years ago). They opened for Incubus and I think I paid $12-$15 for the ticket (those were the days). Talk about a great show. The venue held a few hundred people if that & needless to say it was packed.

Going to go see RUSH for the fourth time 7/11. R40 tour. Twice before at Red Rocks. (totally nuts) Will be # two at Pepsi Center. Foo Fighters. Hard to beat Foo Fighters live at Red Rocks. People will fly from all over the country just to hear their fave band live at Red Rocks. Nothing like it anywhere. I listen to whatever is good. KBPI radio, SOAD, Metallica, Chili Peppers, Deftones. (Floyd and Led Zep are in their own category, no need to mention)

I can't believe I STILL haven't seen RUSH live yet. I know, I know. It's definitely on the list though. Would love to photograph them if given the opportunity. I photographed Deftones a few years ago & they were amazing live & fun to shoot. Photographing a band at Red Rocks is definitely on my list as well, however I'll settle for just catching a band there.

I've been to Red Rocks probably a couple dozen times over the years. The sound there is perfect. Neil,Alex and Geddy put on a good show. Definitely one of THE best live acts. They always stop in Denver. Weird because the last time here was also at Pepsi Center instead of Red Rocks. Pepsi Center is OK sound wise. Saw the Police there. I saw Aussie Pink Floyd at the Paramount here and that was right up there. Some of their members are also with Britsh Floyd and are dead nuts spot on. I was stunned when I heard them. Brit Floyd is on tour now. The show effects are crazy good. Don't miss them if you have a chance to see em. (RUSH is a Bucket Lister)

Red Rocks has to be one of the greatest places on earth... I have only been there as a "tourist" :( I haven't actually seen a show there yet but I have tons of them on DVD:D Hopefully I will get to go in July to see Umphreys Mcgee... One of the greatest bands of all time...

Put yourself in that picture at night, fully packed, and look who has played there over the years, pick a band and imagine what it would sound like. Even the Beatles played there in 1964. Quote:" In 1999, the Best Small Outdoor Concert Venue Award was renamed the Red Rocks Award to reflect the venue's dominance in the category over the years." IMO the best venue period, anywhere.

My coworker is heading the effort to make Red Rocks a National Historic Landmark. Looks like it is going to happen. What this means is more money and effort to preserving the beauty.
He is one of the heads of friends of red rocks but is slowly reducing his responsibilities on the political side. http://www.friendsofredrocks.org/

I just now registered as a volunteer with Friends of Red Rocks. Was not aware of it. Cool. First concert there : Jimmy Buffet 1979 when stationed at Lowry AFB for Calibration school. Good Times.

There's a signed Santana guitar on display at Red Rock along with a lot of other Artist's stuff. Puts Hard Rock cafe's collection to shame.Rare indeed. There is a large signed Beatles photo wearing Jay-Cees's vests (not a rapper) with some Jay-Cee's. The Jay-Cee's sponsored the concert. If you ever see the photo, everyone in the picture is smoking. Literally. Was healthy back then apparently. I was a non smoker in those days.
