yeah thats the big issue. the liability of damage is high, so most of the time people wont attempt it.

i stopped doing it after new cars and some vehicles dont have a proper attach point to safely pull them out.

or the attach point is under the body but you end up crushing or ripping apart the body work that sits lower than the under body attach point

They are likely just leading up to the big show, when they do the Ford F150 Ecoboost twin turbo v6 with 10 speed vs Toyota twin turbo v6 with 10 speed. They don't wanna ruin 2 or 3 months worth of YouTube revenue by doing that one first

I spent 13 years living on the coast and playing in the dunes. I was completely shocked to read they were removed from the 22

Absolutely. I see people pulling people out in reverse, and if you have a high pinion front differential that can cause some issues with the ring gear.

In Colorado, if you are on a major highway attempting to pull someone out of a ditch without an officer or someone blocking traffic, you can be issued a ticket. It almost happened to this guy many moons ago and I haven't attempted since.

The blizzard of 2006 I had my Dodge 2500 CTD up north rescuing people and I caused some significant damage to a vehicle. An Avalanche 1500 with a snow plow (and an operator that didn't know shit) was attempting to plow the road. What has doing since his little truck couldn't push the snow was getting on to and then fell through. So he had a huge anchor up front and truck that was buried up to the bottom of the window sills (3.5' or so). I had a pretty long kinetic rope off a line truck (125'), so I could get some pretty good yanking power. I asked the guy to hook it to his truck. I pulled a couple times and really didn't get anywhere. I had all four tires chained and giving it hell. The guy said "just pull it harder...hit it with your purse Alice!" I told him that might not be a great idea, but said "OK".
I gave it hell and ripped his rear bumper/hitch/and the plastic wrap around piece totally off. I just kept going and left his bumper/hitch assembly at the end of the road and left. I should have seen how he was hooked...but didn't. Kinda felt bad. Guess my purse was a little too big. I pulled out two tractor/trailers that day as well, so traction wasn't an issue. One of the Semi drivers gave me 400.00 (better that waiting for hours and 1500.00).

Huh? They already drag raced the Raptor 37 with it.

I felt it was a good representation of the difference in coil rear trucks with traditional V8 / lower gears vs. TTV6 / more gears.

The big show will be when they compare the PowerBoost hybrid and Iforce Max hybrids.

Agree 100%, I believe all half-ton trucks, which have IFS, really can't pull in reverse with a load hooked up to the front hooks.

It's a near sure way to eff up the front diff case.

Half ton trucks should only pull from the rear going forward.

However, the front hooks are a lifesaver when your half ton is the one getting pulled on.

I found a really nice Limited TRD off-road heavily upgraded in the Mesquite color which I like. I just can’t decide if waiting for the hybrid is worth it or not.

Doing the F150 Ecoboost and the Tundra Ike Gaunlet test will probably be as close to apples and apples as they can get for non hybrid powertrains.

The Ram/Tundra was a good comparison, Turbo vs Standard, differences in the way the power is used etc. Especially at elevation.

I wouldn’t do it on my 1 ton either. Still putting load on the coast side of the gears.

I know you probably know this, but I'll put it out there for those who don't know....

Half ton trucks have a nasty habit of spitting out a driveaxle when hard-loaded in reverse and 4x4. Pretty much doesn't matter the brand....

Looks like Toyota still has some stellar software engineers on the payroll....good to know at least that didn't change.\

Right or wrong, these days those kind of issues will put it at the bottom of the pile.

Some of the issues he was having with connecting his phone were obviously operator error, Tim even says he was rushing and wanted to get on the road. If u watch his issue with having to put his ID code each time he starts vehicle, the display reads “guest mode enabled” I have no experience with the system but think 20 mins reading instructions would allow him to correct these issues. Tim pits out some pretty great real world info. The interior lights absolutely suck! Toyota never showcased that in the media events

I saw a YouTube review somewhere, they said better than previous, on par with other upgraded systems but not a top end system.

So I thought I would just show everyone here what the F150 Raptor Forum lists as things to watch out for when you pick up your New 2021 Raptor from the dealer….. I mean just look at that, I for one am happy to worry or do an aftermarket front tow hook install on the Tundra (myself) rather than have to worry about what comes out of Fords assembly line…..

    https://www.fordraptorforum.com/threads/things-to-check-after-taking-delivery.86952/

With a handful of us taking delivery of our trucks and experiencing random things that the dealer didnt do or missed durning the PDI, or assembly line miss haps, I thought it might be good to start a list of items for others to check when taking delivery or first get the truck home.

Reading others post over the past few days had me in the garage checking things over and was helpful
copy and add to the list

    After delivery items to check:
    1. Tire pressure (Ford ships with approx 50psi, door sticker calls for 38) multiple reports
    2. Transmission cooler line. (Several post with clips not secured and leaking)
    3. Plastic wrap around front shocks (from shipping)
    4. Unsecured front shock wiring Harness. Passenger side front live vale control cable grommets not in place (pictures attached)
    5. Loud fan noise from under rear seat (from power inverter). TSB posted that module parameters need to be reprogrammed. Multiple reports
    6. Check for box link cleats and pro trailer assist wiring harness (if applicable)
    7. Correct engine shroud (Ford Performance)
    8. Correct interior trim (doors and glove box) reports of random door panels and trim being incorrect
    9. Factory bed liner pealing along bulkhead edges
    10. Check fuses under hood. Multiple reports! (Not fully seated) engine bay - back corner - passenger side
    11. Check fluid levels, oil/coolant
    12. inspect rear taillights to ensure they are the same (brightness and overall appearance)
    13. Heat shield/insulator pad above exhaust hanging/falling down.
    14. Subwoofer housing under rear seat not tighter down completely, rattling sound.multiple reports
    15. Rear fuel line vent hose not fastened/clipped hanging down near spare tire rear shock area (picture attached)
    16. Rear wire harness near/under tailgate loose or not attached to grommets and holder
    17. Coolant lines rubbing Crank pulley (engine bay) picture on page 4
    18. Small plastic caps found on steering rack (leftover from assembly?) pic on page 4
    19. Fender flair attachment screws loose (rear) pic on page 5.
    20. Uneven tailpipes, height difference. MULTIPLE REPORTS Pic on page 5,6 and 7
    21. Drivers side door squeak/creek from plastic rivet sticking inside of door jam (from engine bay)
    22. Uneven front bumper (measured under from headlights) Pictures on page 10
    23. Trim/Carpet panel behind rear seat loose (fasteners) and causes vibration rattle from radio and driving. Pictures on page 10
    24. Gap at top of rear fender flares (gap between body and actual flare) Picture Page 10.
    25. 310 electrical connection under seat loose:will get a bunch of errors. Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power, Restraints Indicator Lamp Warning, Hill Start Assist Warning, Pre-Collision Assist Not Available, and Blind Spot Detection with Cross-Traffic. Check connection is tight. More info on page 11.

It does for those of us who buy used trucks with 80k and drive them to 250-300k.

I agree. I usually drive with just my thumb or finger on the wheel anyway. I can always just hold my hands over the vents if their that cold till the truck heats up. Same thing with the heated seats, usually by the time they get heated, by then the truck is already warm. I hardly ever use them, I usually forget their even their.

This times infinity. Toyota doesn’t “owe” anyone anything. They can produce whatever they want and reap the financial windfalls or fallout, whichever it may be.

The Tundra will not fit everyone’s needs. That’s ok. It’s better to be totally satisfied with a 50,000-67000.00 purchase. Well, at least I see it that way.

It is something that is nice to have when you live somewhere cold. My wife's car has it and it is nice, but the big thing here is that when you pay for the option, you expect it to work.
