Highly pissed!! The dealer has officially had my Tundra more than I have. It started with a place called Auto Facelifts putting leather interior in with heat strip and fan in front seats (Katzkin). The owner I assume came out to look at truck and immediately saw that the truck stuck out (it looked different in a good way) he was impressed how the truck looked. I told him more than once to take extra care of my truck and he assured me he would. Three days later he shows up at dealer with a dent in the cab corner and bed corner on passenger side. To this date over twenty some odd days later no phone call from them to tell me what happened or an apology.
This brings us to yesterday, truck was done at the body shop and my contact there said everything turned out great and the guys from LineX was coming to get the truck and it would be done on Monday day and I could come pick up my truck. They were going to touch up bed because they had to remove bed to paint cab corner. I have the LOJACK and the Toyota app so I can track vehicle and I saw that my truck was at the LineX place Saturday afternoon late. With the luck I have been having and my truck does not like being away from the house I checked on my truck around 5PM and noticed it was on its way to downtown Houston. The wife and I live in Santa Fe so we quick get into her car and drive to LineX and can not see my truck and notice my truck has been stopped at an indoor soccer place (I assume) for a long time. So we take off now in Houston in traffic and almost get to truck and it starts moving again. We were five to fifteen minutes behind it because of traffic gridlock in downtown Houston. Wife and I figure out truck is on the way back to LineX. Truck gets stopped at LineX and we drive there to find no one there. There was a gentleman in his car outside that owned the business next door and called the owner of LineX for me and I was able to talk to him and he tried telling me some line of BS but he didn’t know because he was not even there. Then,, the other owner called me which was the brother of the first guy I talked too. I busted him and was more than irate about him driving my truck around downtown Houston. Turns out he took his daughter to a soccer game in my truck then came back and got into his car and left my truck locked up inside the business. Of course the idiot could not apology enough and asked how he could make it right and he stated it was a bad move on his part. The owner then stated to start he was going to spray the bed to their thickness standards and apply a good coat of UV protectant on it so it would not turn hard and dark grey after a few years. He also told me he wants to make it right if he can and that he has all sorts of stuff for trucks and what he doesn’t have he can get?!! My LOJACK also is showing my fuel is almost on empty now so today or Monday morning I am going to text him that I do not want him to stop anywhere and I want my truck driven directly to the dealer and he can leave 84 dollars cash in the console for gas. He can’t give me back the miles on the truck, he racked up toll fees on my truck, used gas, and I got three alerts of 75 mph on the drive back to the shop when he was done driving my truck in Saturday evening traffic in downtown Houston!!
What would you do??? He already knows I am pi$&3d!! I called the dealer and my buddy there sent a text to the GM and I will be on the phone to the body shop manager tomorrow (Monday) morning!!!! I am more than f)&@(ng mad!!! There is really nothing I can do other than write up what happened and leave review about how this place might take your vehicle for a joy ride!!!!

I'd go full blown nuclear. I'd put the review on everything I could, with details, and I'd put it all over the dealership's website, google, and FB. That's absolute horseshit business practice and it would be a complete scorched earth campaign on my part. Figure what a diminished value claim for the body work would be and press for restitution. It's not even my truck and I'm boiling.

    I hate people.

I did do that for the upholstery place and the daughter put it out there on face book, now I have the LineX of South Houston to deal with. Will do diminished value too when I can get a copy of the final bill so I can give that bill of lost value to the upholstery shop.

Better Business Bureau complaint for sure. Full documentation. My brain goes to the this being a tit hair shy of theft. There is no reason your truck should have gained more than a mile while at their shop, and it sure as shit shouldn't have burned any fuel. I'd be checking it for cigarette burns, food mess, and snot from his kid. This wasn't an accident. That human trash bag knowingly took something that wasn't his to use without permission or any reasonable rationale AND is teaching his child that it's okay to do it by example. Words cannot express the level of rage I would be throwing at him.

Was the Auto Facelift visit arranged through your dealer? If so, start your nuclear strike with Toyota.

2nd the BBB complaints- I’ve had very good luck with businesses fixing issues after a BBB complaint. Be professional, leave emotion out of it, state the facts, and figure out what restitution you want.

That's just it, in this case, what are the options? That would be my question to the BBB. Is there much more you can do besides spread the word? Can the be fined or hit with joyriding? This is one of those things that I would not pull any punches on. Guarantee this isn't the first person he's done this to.

Oh hell no! Houston we have a problem! Talk about unprofessional... mf'r joy rided your baby!! I'd raise hell, I don't even know what would pacify me in that situation. Maybe if he did something of value that you really wanted to the truck but I wouldn't trust him to wash the windows on it now.

God bless, this is why I'm paranoid to take my truck to shops. The turds just don't care about our truck and do shit all willy nilly or worse intentionally fuck shit up.

Which means do everything I possibly can my damn self.

The BBB is a membership organization. While they may lead one to believe otherwise complaining to them is much like bitching about your wife..............to her sister.

What does the LineX and Toyota general manager drive? Your turn for some mash & thrash.

I agree about the BBB. It should be the abbreviation for Betterment Business Bureau.

Yup the auto Facelifts was arranged thru dealer, this was part of the deal when I traded my Sport in. He put interior in and also put dents in the truck. Then the collision center at dealer had to take off bed to paint cab corner so the bed needs to be resprayed like it was from new just weeks ago!!!! Still boiling over last night!! I was just inches away from reporting it stolen thru LOJACK so I could have left him stranded in downtown Houston. By the time I was going to report it stolen he was already going back to LINEX of South Houston!!!!

This is where you should start. Ask the Dealer how they’re going to make it right - you have a new truck with repaired body damage and extra miles you didn’t put on. I’d tell them to trade you a new truck, because money can’t undent your truck nor roll the odometer back. Try to keep emotion out of it and and give the dealer a chance to make it right. If they don’t, then ratchet up the pressure.

Bypass the dealer and aim the warhead at corporate. Let the fallout land on the dealer. Ask for the world in compensation and accept a continent for your troubles and damages. After my experience with something as simple as the wrong tire pressures, I think you'll get results. BTW, CC your States Atty General office on the flaming emails.

    Go get 'em, tiger.

My attorney and these clowns would be negotiating a settlement before Christmas. Very, very easy to either post your story all over the web, or sign a non disclosure. Pretty sure they will choose to sign a check.

Absolutely agree. This is theft and LoJack can be used to prove it. Plus the other owner as a witness. I would flat out push for hard to drive the message home that you don't get to f**k with other people's stuff.

If it had been an employee instead of the owner I might go your route with that employee's termination being part of the deal, but it'd have to be one hell of a check. With it being the owner, not a chance. I'd rather bury them than let them do it to somebody else.

As jacked up as this is, I’d calm down and leverage what you can. You have this guy in a weak position. What’s done is done and if I could secure a free all bells and whistles LineX spray and maybe some other shit in exchange for a few miles on my truck that’s exactly what I would do. Try to get some shit out of that dealer to. Maybe tint, clear bra or Tonneau cover?
Going half cocked and losing your shit will get you nowhere.
