I find online a good deal of 2nd gen compatible (I think I read 10.5" diff (what ever that means)) but having a hard time finding one for a 1st gen. Are they diff's/axles the same? Can I install a 2nd gen diff onto a 1st gen? Here is one I found. Tundra Rear Diff Skid | 2nd & 3rd Gen (07+) - Victory 4x4

    Cheers!

We have the Toyota 8.4 rear diff. 2nd gen will not fit. RCI and BAMF make diff skids for 05-15 tacos which have the 8.4 but no one has ever responded to my emails or calls seeing if it would fit a fgt.

Please do! Gas tank and diff are what I’m missing.

Well, may be in a long while since I've got some more expenses on this Tundra. I bought it few months ago and although in good shape, got to through some money at it. Just put a 2.5" Roughcountry lift and tire/wheels. But if i jump on this, i'll post.

Diff armor is really not needed ever. The only reason I could think to have one would be if it protected the pinion, but that one doesn’t to that.

I’ve seen diff guards cause more problems than solve.

Well I guess depends on how hard you hit that rock. lol! I don't rock climb with mine and with 2.5" and 285 tires, I haven't dragged...yet. But in my exploder with 31's, I've dragged through a few ditches and streams. hell, I have a hard time finding any armor for that too since it's a 99. But I can imagine hitting hard could smash stuff too.

My Sequoia has a gas tank skid plate that looks factory. Might fit the DC.

@buccirj that particular diff armor has been found to cause some trouble for 2nd gen trucks. I don't think there is a lot you can do to add armor to our axles, any mounting point on the axle will just become the new stressed point on impact.
