Whatever this forum told me to do
    e-85 will be a no-no.

91 octane is fine up there.

Maybe the difference in responses here is due to the fact that Magnuson offers a great warranty with theirs, and Harrop does not.

Is your 2021 Tundra a FFV? Supposedly the flex fuel was discontinued for 2020 model year Tundra.

When searching for my tundra which I was buying lightly used I purposely was shopping for non FFV trucks only knowing I wanted to supercharge it. I didn’t want to deal with the FFV issues. That being said, Prospeed in Texas seems to have really perfected tuning the FFV trucks at this point. Taking it there was not an option for me though, I’m in the northeast.

Where in NE are you located and did you find a shop for SC install and/or tune?

Just north of you, in the Lehigh valley. I had my trusted mechanic install it. He’s a Toyota technician but did it at his home garage for me. He’s great, but I had to wait forever (months) to get it in for the install and then once he had it I didnt get it back for 2 weeks. No issues though. Running no tune on a tage 1 right now (runs great) but I’m about to install my stage 2 Harrop parts and I have my DAP remote tune base file waiting as well.

Very cool. We have a few Harroped Tundras in the same general area. I’ll probably get my stage 1 done at RT in Montgomeryville. I’ll probably go remote tuning with HP tuners if I go stage 2.

Did you get before and after dyno numbers?

    Well sh*t......

Disclaimer: I have only been working on Toyotas in the past 5-7 years like the Hilux and turbo diesel Landcruiser. T

That said I'm an idiot and until looking at my truck (don't tell anyone, the owners manual) that I would find out that Vizsla is right and my 05/2021 is GAS ONLY! LOL

Please don't laugh, but I made the assumption that my truck was FFV. I am retarded and that is everything against what I've learned as a mechanic (with Toyota since 1998) as to keep it simple stupid and verify everything.

My apologies to you all, however I did learn a lot!!

Now I am only considering the Magnuson because of their warranty as my truck has less than 20k.

    Now your turn lol

I’ve read that the magnuson 3 year/36k only covers the kit now and no longer covers the drivetrain. At least I’ve seen Jeff Westcott of Westcott designs state that anyway. If you were thinking it covers the drivetrain I’d just double check that and read the warranty fine print. It must also be installed by an ASE master technician, same case to get the Harrop warranty.

oh - and check your intercooler reservoir a couple days later....the bubbles will finally burp out and you will need to add a smidge of coolant.

    and report back dammit!

agreed. The love of HP is a downward spiral of smiles, laughter and endless contentment. not to mention the awful stewardship that this forum provides by continuously sharing important data.

my FIL has a '34 ford kit with a ZZ4 383 stoker. I now appreciate that car 1000 times more than I ever did in the past. yes, it looks just like the ZZ top car.

I went the other direction. (my truck had 25k on it.)

the Harrop has better intercooling - larger cooling bricks & intercooler.
The harrop turns slower & produces a cooler air charge.
    heat is bad.

these 2 factors convinced me that the harrop was SAFER for my truck. I never considered the warranty, as I was looking past the 36k miles.

Magnuson is awesome. they just didn't win my comparison test.

Well thinking that the Harrop will be the choice. Nothing really beats rave reviews by owners!

ASE master tech huh, wtf. Met plenty of "master techs" that couldn't diagnose their way out of a paperbag. May be time to go visit the Harrop HQ!

One issue to consider in upholding that warranty for magnuson is that you better be happy with the tune and kit as it comes. There is no getting a retune by DAP, Prospeed, D3 or others. The warranty can be voided for a myriad of reasons as found in the fine print. These include if you remove the pulley for any reason (such as swapping it out), use any tune other than what is provided, change the exhaust before the catback, increase tire size too much, improper maintenance, neglect, abuse etc. and who determines that!? And when you have an issue, you have to follow their protocol as far as getting approval before allowing a shop to tear into it. Just saw a guy on FB mention his coupler on his magnuson is making noise and his local Toyota dealer “has been reaching out to magnuson for months. Still waiting.” The coupler issue also seems to pop up too often for my liking on the Magnusons. You may be perfectly happy with it as supplied though, so if that’s the case no worries at all! Just playing devils advocate, you never know if you will want more power once you’ve had it installed a while. Warranties are nice, but it probably shouldn’t be the deciding factor in a purchase of this nature. @omgboost makes a simple point at the heart of it.

Agreed, and at the end of the day I want to enjoy driving it. I smoke cigars in it and ain't afraid to scratch the shit out of it while hunting/camping, so why be afraid of a SC.

In other news I plan on doing a complete Line-X body armor or ultra, thoughts? That and the SC kit are probably the last for a while, unless I keep stopping back in here!!!

So I have the same setup in my 2018 5.7. The newer Magnuson SC and the Koyo radiator. Thing is I’m burning through coolant like you can’t believe. I stopped in for oil change at my mechanic and I’m inside shooting the shit with him and he goes hey your coolant reservoir is almost empty. So he fills it up to level and prob 1k-1.8k miles later it’s back to about minimum level. So I completely top it off this time and make an hour highway drive. That next morning checked again and it was down maybe an inch from being completely to the top. I’m getting no warning alerts in dash. My temperature is always reading normal and I have no coolant leaks that I can see in engine or ground?
Is it possible that the aftermarket radiator is just that much bigger it needs so much more coolant to maintain fluids and keep it at a normal level?

No, radiator is leaking, a leak somewhere else, or head gasket has a leak but that'd most likely be noticeable. It's going SOMEWHERE.

If you’re checking and monitoring the coolant level in the reservoir you have to be checking it at the same temperature. It’s an overflow reservoir. When the pressure exceeds the radiator cap rating from expansion (usually 16psi) it burps the extra pressure into the overflow. Once the engine cools and the coolant contracts it draws the extra back in from the bottom of the reservoir. If you checked it the next morning when it was COLD and it was only an inch from the top, frankly that’s probably overfilled. When the engine is cold the level should be down closer to the LOW level line. When it’s hot, it should be somewhere in between LOW and FULL.
