    I'll add:

    conditions were ideal.
    Cool dense air
haze in the air - not quite fog, but close.
street still dry enough to scootch.

So are headers worth it? Sounds like straight pipes is the way to go which isn't an option for me.
    Thoughts?

Aren’t the stock tundra headers 4 into 2 into 1?

I’m interested in this as well.

No, spins so much, went sideways on the road. I may try some different things, and the temp doesn't help.

Yes, the OEM headers look like they are pretty efficient at scavenging.

Reading on these and other forums it seems like the OEM cats are "high flow" so most folks aren't getting big gains without doing a rear cat delete minimum; where straight pipes is ideal (and not an option for me).

I could crowdsource the issue and park my truck on the streets of Houston to see what Mr. Sawzall has to say.

I just did a 0-60 run in 4hi with a little brake boost using that FastR app that @nobodyintexas had downloaded. I only did 1 run, and who knows it’s accuracy but it clocked 4.95s to 60. This is untuned Harrop stage 1, 295/70r17 tires and a 3/4 full 38 gallon tank. 37 degrees outside. I mainly wanted to get some kind of benchmark to compare to after my stage 2 upgrades/DAP tune I have sitting here waiting.

 Try a launch with some more Revs on your brake boost! I also had all the nannies off, not that I think the tires would spin in 4x4 anyway but just in case.

I saw this in my YT feed yesterday; fairly close.

This video is triggering people in the third gen forums; its almost on par with folks asking about how to improve MPGs, where is my trans cooler, and why JBL sucks/Tundra has no tech.

However, they are in League City.

I think they are still waiting on their in car tuner gadget to NOT be backordered.

I just sent an email to their sales email address listed on their website, and then wait. He can take a few days to respond to your initial inquiry. I think it’s cause he is a one man show and he is probably prioritizing people who have already paid for their tune. Once he sends a base file on a supercharged truck, it has to be driven super easy and data logs have to be recorded and sent back.I think getting tune revisions out for something like that is going to take priority. As it should be. But i hear it’s worth the wait.

as I recall....Octane boost did not seem to help my untuned stage 1.

Now I need to test it with a tuned stage 2.

what do the Poo-Bahs of boostage think? @snivilous

under what circumstances would 95 octane fuel create more power?

The only thing octane does is allow you to run more advanced. There's two reasons to run more octane: your tune isnt setup for less octane so has to keep retarding timing to prevent knock, so you put in the correct octane and now your engine runs normally and makes full power (of that tune). OR your engine is totally fine and not neutering itself, in which case more octane does absolutely nothing and you then have to adjust the tune to allow it to run more advanced to benefit from the higher octane.

Octane allows timing, up to your tune if it can use all the timing the octane allows. If the tune wants more timing than the octane allows, either get more octane or change the tune. You want more octane than timing so you don't knock, but a lot more is no different than a little more.

There was an engine masters episode where they did a similar test, of does octane make more power. Well their engine made peak horsepower at like 19deg of advance, and it was able to make that on 85 octane. Going to 91 or 110 or whatever they tested didn't help anything, the engine made peak power at 19deg of advance. Adding timing doesn't mean more power, the engine will only make so much power. You want enough octane to hit that optimal advance level, more octane does nothing then and more advance does nothing either at that point. More octane means a more aggressive tune, but the tune can only get so aggressive. There's a power ceiling to the engine, and you want the octane level to be at or above the timing required for that ceiling.

that last sentence wrapped it up nicely.

Since my tune was set for 93...95 won't do shit.

Also to throw it in here since I've seen a lot of misfounded ideas: the likelihood of knock and resisting that is not consistent across the rpm and power range. You might knock at WOT but not at idle or up to 90% throttle for example, so obviously WOT is more prone to knocking which is what the octane is setup for.

Why this matters is that you can run low octane totally fine if you are not thrashing on the truck! I've had times where I needed gas and there was no 91 octane in the middle of the mountains so I filled up with 87 or 85 or whatever they had and there was no issue! I just didn't get on the gas or lug it as much and just drove more cautiously (in reality drove about the same for cruising) and the engine was never in a spot where it needed more octane since I never let it run it that regime. Some people say they won't get boost because what if there's no 91, or they carry octane boosters or 5 gallons of 110 all the time----fuck that, just don't drive like an idiot and you don't need high octane. Now to be fair, if you have some insanely gnarly setup running straight meth or some special gas, obviously that's different. But if the shit hits the fan and you need gas, 85 isn't far off from 91 or 95 and you just need to baby it to the next gas station and your truck will be fine.
