Do you believe in Bigfoot or have you ever seen anything strange in the woods?

I am a real strong skeptic and think that with all of our modern tech we would have at least found something by now like a skeleton or a hunter would have one mounted on his wall. I have heard people tell stories and they would swear on a bible that they saw a Bigfoot. I also do not believe in ghosts, but I will not call people who crazy if they believe in these things.

I remember seein 'im out there in the woods in the mountains of North Carolina. Big stalky thing with an abundance of hair. I ended up following him to some town, but I ended up getting a solid whiff from him. Looked at it for a few minutes, then thought to myself, "Hmm, I wonder why Bigfoot would be in a town." Then I realized that I was on the college campus in Raleigh.

I can't say that I do believe in Bigfoot, but I also can't say that I don't. Living where I do, you realize how much truly empty and untouched wilderness is out there. The forests hold many secrets and I've experienced some weird things in my travels through the backcountry.

I do think it's more likely that there are aliens visiting earth than Bigfoot walking around. I also don't believe in ghosts. So there's that.

About the scariest thing I had happen in the woods was a few years ago. I was getting ready to climb into my deer stand one morning before sunrise and just as I stepped onto the 1st rung a fox screamed close by. I about crapped myself right then and there and had a good laugh about it all day.

About 35 years ago, my brother and I were deer hunting way up north near the California / Oregon border.
Having just seen nothing but Doe, we headed back to the truck at dusk.
We got about a 1/4 mile from the truck when we heard this god awful scream / screetch.
Nothing like an Elk, or deer bleet or anything we ever heard.
We walked back on edge with my brother looking right of us and me looking left.
Going from left to right about 150 yards was something upright and large moving fast as Hell.
It didn't look like a Bear at all and nothing like an Elk or Deer.
It didn't stop when we fired rounds into the ground in it's direction; just kept moving quick.
Later, after that we packed up and left the area and still today can't figure out what the Hell it was.

To be fair I was just driving by, there might be a whole colony/troop of them there. I wish Steve Irwin was still around to investigate.

I believe lots of things are possible, maybe not probable, but possible. There was a night when it was raining pretty good and lightning was flashing rapidly making it hard to see, I was driving on a quiet two lane curvy lakeside highway and either ran over a giant snake stretched completely across both lanes or a fallen tree. Anyway, felt like the biggest speed bump ever at 45 mph, and I still can't believe the front end didn't come apart. Anyway, got to a wide spot in the road, stopped, took a look see, looked okay, drove back to the scene and there was no tree in the road. My best guess is that was one very BIG snake. I also once saw a frog or toad about the size of a milk crate jump across a dirt road in front of me. Stopped and tried to find and catch that sucker. No such luck, he was back in his natural habitat, and I was out of mine. So, yeah there might be some extraordinary creatures out there. Have no fear, most creatures are delicious if prepared correctly!

I remember when Col. Steve Austin took on Bigfoot and it was because Bigfoot was mad from being woke up from his deep sleep. I imagine that the same number of people who believe that professional wrestling is real also believe in Bigfoot.

I got a Bigfoot (maybe?) story. I'll try to keep it short.

A buddy of mine had come home on his first leave since joining the Army. He calls me up and suggests we go out to some land my parents rented to catch up. We had hunted rabbits there all through high school. We grab a couple of shotguns, and head out. It's night but we know our way around. We fire off some shots into a pond then make our way back into the woods and across the creek. We get near the back of the property and see there are some people partying just on the other side of the fence. They have a fire going and being loud and clearly drinking.

They hear us walking through the wood and start yelling "I hear those guys that were shooting" followed by drunken threats to kill us. They can't see us. They only heard us. They jump in 2 trucks and drive to our side of the fence on the road then start running through the wood toward us yelling more threats.

We run to the creek bed, jump in (it was dry) and plaster against the bank. We hear the drunks run down both sides of the creek and keep running through the woods yelling. We wait about about half a minute then stand up to get the hell out of there. I look towards our way back to the pasture and snap my gun up. My buddy looks at me, then looks where I'm aiming, and snaps his gun up.

Silhouetted against the edge of the tree line 20 ft. away from us is this huge barrel chested something looking right at us. It's standing next to this big tree. It doesn't flinch when we aim at it. It just takes a side step behind the tree. We are no longer worried about the drunks. We each aim at a side of the tree and half circle our way back to the pasture. At which point, we ran like hell.

The creepy part was it knew where we were when all the drunks ran right by us. We were in a creek bed so there is no telling how tall it was other than it looked tall, it looked wide and it scared the crap out of us.

May not have been Bigfoot but it was strange.

honestly I don’t know if there’s a higher concentration of believers from WW to the Tri-Cities to Yakima. It’s as if they’re more skeptical if you HAVEN’T got your own story.
