Wanting to wire up a simple dual usb outlet. My understanding is most guys tap into the 12v cig lighter. I have attached a pic for reference. My plan is to splice the wires where I made the green circles in the pic and wire in my usb wires to that.

is there an easier or better method I’m missing here?

    THANKS

You should be good that way. Just remember that there is only power when the ignition is on.

    Pretty things
The usb, usb-c socket replacements I purchased just so happened to use pretty standard (male) spade connectors.

I actually cut the factory cig lighter harness in half and plugged them straight on the spade connectors on the new sockets.

    Exactly what I bought.

Actually hate blue LEDs for the interior, but they are very low in the console and have covers that actually work thus far (several months).

Only one of the holes needed to be enlarged in my truck. Step bit made easy work of the one which needed to be larger.

Appreciate the info Trey! I may look for some in amber to match the interior lights better.

    You're welcome.
