new damage

so noticed some damage to my hood and fender. dont know where it came from. also noticed this gasket is worn out...called toyota said it $17 for a new one. so it isnt bad hopefully its easy to install...

Looks like that was done in a parking lot and someone used your truck to hold something.

Yea, Like at Home Depot. Temporarily stacked some bricks on your hood while they fumbled in their pockets for the keys to their Prius.

 

Yep. Had a similar set of scratches on the side of my Tacoma where some jackwipe leaned their crap against me while fingering their hole. I always park way the hell out in the nether regions of parking lots too, but even that didn't stop it from happening.

 

yea. sounds true. gasket was easy. 17$ pull it off stick the other one in.

 

Good deal on the gasket. Figured the dealer would jam you for $30.

 

Unless you use your truck exclusively on a farm or something, small damages are likely to occur. I just don't get bent out of shape. I usually park sufficiently away from heavily used lots. But I don't park way out there either. That's also asking for trouble.

 

Have some on my truck too.. I think its from rocks or mud in the scrub brush at the local do-it-your self car wash..

 

I would agree with Tuna813, my daughter put some scratches like that on the trunk of her car by setting a basket of clothes there while she unlocked her car.I found it hard to believe a laundry basket could cause that much damage, but that was her story and she stuck to it!

 

I have to drive thru a lot of sage brush on my property and it does wonders on the paint. Most scratches are superficial and wax out. Some don't. Same thing with my 09 Tacoma. Biggest gripe with Toyota is the paint finish or lack of.

 

2500 grit wet sand, polishing compound, wax, in that order. Make sure it's polishing compound not rubbing compound. Search YouTube for detailed instructions.

 

I put Xpel clear bra film on whole truck not rock chips no scratches and it self heals swirls marks at 74 degrees and above if it's painted it's covered even wheel wells
