I believe the Dual has a 100% duty cycle and the single doesn't.

    Heh heh, you said, duty.
But seriously, I don't know what that means.

Duty cycle is how long it can run continuously. The duals you can keep running. Air your truck up and a friend and their sister. The singles I believe are 50% duty and maybe like 30 minutes. So once you air up and do your friend, it'll shut off and then you have to wait another 30 minutes before using it again for the sister. But if it's just you, you should be okay.

The single will not shut off by itself. Only if the thermal overload engages. It will keep running until it takes a sht. Duty cycle is extremely important to consider when buying compressors. 50% duty cycle means that the compressor can run for 30 min, but then must rest for 30 minutes. This is calculated at 100 psi with ambient air at 72 degrees. Be careful. Even a 100% duty cycle only means that it will run for 1 hour at 100 psi at 72 degrees. I have already melted a twin air (100% duty cycle) by using it in the engine bay while running in the 100 degree desert heat; combined with running it with the engine off. Always run compressors with the engine on. What happens is the voltage drops (13+ vdc engine on, ~11vdc engine off); when the voltage drops, the current goes up. When the current goes up, the heat rises in the motor. I first lost one motor, then shortly after I lost the other motor, because I was constantly overheating the unit.

ARB has excellent customer service. They fully rebuilt my compressor out of warranty no charge. I relocated it to the bed so it will have cooler air.

Also, they are not fully waterproof. The motors are sealed, but the internal relays are vulnerable. I sprayed the inside of my compressor with a hose while cleaning my bed and the relays corroded. ARB sent me new relays for free. Now my relays are sealed with dielectric silicone grease, along with every connector.

My compressor has been through the wringer, but its 4 years old and I use the sht out of it. Not only my tires, but also filling up other trucks on the trail.

@osidepunker I've learned a lot from your experiences. Thanks for sharing your head with us

I can testify to this product. Driverdog let me use this to air my tires. This product is legit. As bad as I want this, the Metro Vac and Blo, is my next purchase. Maybe we can have a group buy, mmmm?
