    Depends if you wanted to fish for salmon in saltwater or freshwater.
    Freshwater you can get a flown into and dropped off in remote spots where you are guaranteed not to see another human being.lol
    Saltwater salmon your on a boat with others unless you charter the boat, but that's big $$$

    Most likely freshwater since I'm most familiar with fly fishing for salmon in rivers. I'd do salt, but like you say it can get pricey. Party boats are of no interest to me. I fish to get away from people.

    My dad makes some trip to AK every 3 years, where he cruises the coast, then hits ports and fly fishes fresh-water at each port for a few days.
    It’s freakin nice!

    Luling smells like a big fart (from their oil fieldss) but they are famous for their watermelons and have their Luling Watermelon Thump Festival every year. http://newsite.watermelonthump.com
    I've heard they actually turn off the stink for the festival. Probably hang a shitload of air fresheners...

    Also, there's something called the "Luling Effect" in Austin where the smell from Luling somehow lofts over to the city and it smells farty.

    She's probably not the "thump" queen but it seemed funny so I put it.

    Anchor Point or Ninilchik are pretty good choices. Homer gets a bit crazy during fishing season. Ninilchik was my favorite. Reasonable halibut fishing rates. A friend has a small lodge there. The best....Roscoe's Pizza. To die for. Roscoe used to be the executive chef at the Princess up your way. He and his wife Kathy decided to open their own place in historic Ninilchik. There are a few halibut fishing charters there. Smaller boats which means less people. The clams there are huge. Great beach for that. Mostly locals. Not super touristy at all.

    Awesome! Sounds like you've spent some time up here. I bet Homer get a shit load of people in the summer, being the "halibut fishing capital of the world" I would like to avoid people like the plague, so I'll definitely look at Ninilchik and anchor point for charters. And If nothing else just go to try some of the pizza that you're speaking of, cause I loves me some pizza, almost as much as eating halibut!lol We have a decent pizza joint here in my little town, mountain high pizza pie it's called. But the best pizza I've had in state yet is fast Eddy's in Tok, delicious and huge! We have to go to Seward this week, maybe have to make it to Ninilchik on the same trip, so I don't have to wait for summer! Lol thanks for the heads-up, appreciate it!
