My first upgrade to my new 1794 Tundra will be the sound system.

My question is, go with one or two of the JL Audio 10TW3D4?

What is your experience with one sub vs 2? I'd really like to hear from some installers too if any are here.

    Other parts I'm putting in:
    Alpine PDXV9 Amp
    Focal 165V30 back doors
    Focal PS165FXE front doors
    Dynamat doors

Having it installed by car toys.

I am looking for clean full sound like I'm in a concert. This system is going be awesome

    Looking forward to your opinions

Whatever this forum told me to do

    this.

I was that guy in the 90's with the esoteric car audio system.

Surface area of the subs is far more important & efficient than the power you could apply to less surface area.

Today's long throw woofers are magical.

If I could figure out how to put 2 long throw woofers behind the seat.....like the DD SL600. 14.5mm XMAX

damn it...now I need to see if James could whoop this up. @tech12volts

Yeah, go with 2 subs. I went with 2, 12" subs and I love it. My system has a bass volume knob so I can dial in as much bass as I want.

I should be picking it up this morning. He had it marked off his schedule for a full day and half. When I left yesterday they had everything out working on the sounddeadening.

Hey Dean, My system sounds awesome. Picked it up today. Had him put the sub knob in my console. They sound deadening the doors with the precut from James and also put it inside the doors. Also added the speaker foam rings. My system kicks ass. Loving it. Nice and clean with the factory headunit. You cannot tell it’s been upgraded. Awesome job on James on programming my DSR1. Also no dash speakers hooked up. No need for them.

Awesome There's nothing like an incredible sound system.

I plan on putting the knob under the dash. There is a flat spot all the way to the right I want to use if it will work.

Where did you put the amp?

Hmm.... Do you have power seats?

I hope it will go under the seat so I can tweak it every now and then

That's good news! I cranked up some disturbed on the factory JBL system and I am indeed impressed with the factory system. I'm having second thoughts now but .... No... I want to feel the music.. nothing like incredible sound driving down the road

The system is installed! Sounds great except the tuning needs to be worked on.

Hindsight, for the $$ invested, I should have just amped up the existing system (maybe) and definitely added a single sub. The factory system gives more of a full sound but offers insufficient power to rumble.

It's new and needs to loosen up. Maybe time and tweeking will do the trick.

They are ordering the D8 instead of the D4 to change the ohms from 2 to 4 to try and improve the power output and frequency range. I guess 500w on 2 subs is not enough to drive them correctly?

    Overall, I love it!

I'm being told that the amp is not providing enough power to the subs. Going to go with 4ohm subs instead of 2ohm subs to improve the drive... Something like that... We shall see
