Every now and then. Once in a blue moon we will hit the low 20s or high teens. Of course when that does happen there is a cluster fuck of burst pipes and a run on pipe insulation at the hardware store, but it's rare.

It does, not a “hard freeze” but we get frost on the grass every now and then.
But seriously one year we had a “cold” winter, and no one usually wraps their pipes……….
Soooooo many back flows and busted swamp cooler lines and incoming service breaks. It was a shit show for 2-3 weeks after trying to get parts

^^what these guys said. It does tend to get a few degrees colder at the lake where I store my boat - they’ll see high-teens in a cold winter and high-mid twenties most years - just enough to crack a block if you leave raw water in.

I remember the epic snow storm (a couple of inches) about 15 years ago. I was still working at the post office which was a few miles from my house, maybe 10 minutes, but of course the city wasn't ready for it, so they shut down every bridge in town due to ice. Well from my house near Houghton to the post office at Kolb and Grant the only way there is over washes with bridges. I had to pretty much drive the perimeter of the city to get to work, took near 2 hours. I have never seen so many people running into each other on the road.
Of course it all melted a few hours later and all was well, except of course the burst water pipes.

we even get the white stuff (the cold kind) every now and then.

I like the idea of the shit melting away soon after it hits the ground, like Azblue said.
    Not 6-7 months later.lol
By May I'm definitely ready for the shit to go away

It only last a few hours where we are at. I lived in Flagstaff for four years where the snow that falls in late December melts in early February and that was bad enough.

I could stomach that for the next 9 years before I retire if I didn’t have any stress to bring home from work.
Right now I’m high enough up the food chain where I’m at that it’s seriously hard to find anything that could get me close to the same salary without a) working 60+ hours a week or b) moving somewhere that the cost of living is 50% more than where I’m at.
I paid very well on salary for “40 hours” that really is more like 50 hours…but even at 50 hours the math is in my favor.

That is a totally understandable position.

For me, working days and nights to cover a position 24/7/365 I can't think of a better shift set up. The week off makes the change in sleep pattern way easier than only having a couple days. If you really think about it, I only work 6 months of the year, and if I burn 40 hours of vacation I get 3 weeks off.

As a barely high school educated, former warehouse worker/CDL driver I feel blessed and lucky to be where I am. My direct supervisor is awesome, the team I work with is mostly solid, and I make enough that being dumb with my money didn't ruin me!
