I looked into Softex and other mfg's fake leather, leatherette, whatever you want to call it a few years ago. Best info I found is it's "bonded leather". Cowhide scraps are ground up then mixed with a bonder and pressed to shape with backing material. Even Katzkin, Clazzio use bonded leather in their lower-price products, upper end you can get real hide.

I've owned only vinyl, cloth or real cowhide in vehicles but Softex seems likeable. I guess it's a bit more flexible than vinyl and more durable with low maintenance compared to cowhide (and low cost).

I love full cowhide in vehicles, love the rich smell after a cleaning and conditioning.

My old T4R had Softex and honestly it's not bad. I don't know why so many poopoo it. Some people wouldn't even know the difference unless you told them. :crapstorm:

I know my wife's interior with the softex doesn't have the typical leather cracks in it like my truck does. I'm rougher on my truck than she is but it still looks brand new after 6 years. My leather isn't cracked but it definitely has the lines on the bolster from getting in and out.

I doubt I would mind Softex much. If it looks good, wears good, easy to clean that's all fine with me. I do love real hide though if it's been maintained, no scuffs no cracks.

Nothing more was revealed at this event, it was to celebrate that the trucks are in production. Similar type of even was held in October in Alabama for the launch of the engine.

Dealer mark ups make me feel that way no matter what. The one I go to has had a few Supras inside and they are always $10K or more mark up, and that was before the stuff going on now. Like when I bought my truck in 2019.

That's some solid up-skirt camera work there. First decent pic of the TRD Off Road skid plate I've seen. Looks like the aftermarket segment is going to be booming again.

I actually don't mind the chrome, thought I would gag at it... I will probably still do something different, but doesn't look bad as-is!

The guy that bought that white Tundra above posted directly under that on the Houston Toyota FB page at the car wash with it. I am sure we are going to be shocked and awed at some of the prices that will be given for these new trucks.

Yeah, it's personal preference I think. The Softex feels too slick to me. I just prefer the leather in my Platinum and my wife's ES. I had Katzkin in my Tacoma and was very happy with that as well.

I'm with you, I love the feel and smell of real leather surfaces in vehicles. I've had cloth in my first 2 Tundras. I'm really hoping that they decide later that a limited should have leather seats and add it to the options list. I probably am not going to purchase till spring/fall timeframe next year, so maybe by then, it'll be there.
