Talked to a Toyota rep at the State Fair yesterday and he said confidently that the redesigned Sequoia would be here next year (2023 YM) though he did say it wasn't "official" yet

Hard pass on the 2023 Seq. for me. I have had two so far and in general, good SUV. Price and features are going to be the killer for me. I've stuck with the SR5 as I live in FL and all other trims are leather and can do without the burning every time i get in. If I want to stick with that and get most of the features I want, its going to be a big price. Maybe they will have vented softex on a higher model that will reduce the number of packages, price is still going to be high. 52k now on the SR5 and based on the Tundra jump, looking at 56k for a bare bones base model. I could easily see myself adding enough of the new tech to hit 65k or higher. On the flip side have priced out a pretty well loaded Tundra Limited for 53k. I don't use the third row of my SUV enough to justify spending 12k or more to have it vs the bed.

yep i have been doing similar thing, being old has me second guessing my truck addiction i love trucks, however, i have noticed im not using my truck like a truck everyday like i used too, but just not sure a Sequoia could handle the times i do even if those times are getting fewer with age.

Yeah I keep a canvas drop cloth in the back of my Seq. for when I get plants, mulch, and such. Used to have a Tacoma before kids and that truck I used to redo my whole yard, build a koi pond, etc. Would like to get back to that stuff.

I like the idea of it, but until the next remodel the interior has been subpar and it does not tow enough for my needs (boat too big).

We’ll almost definitely be getting one when they come out. The Mrs. is on her second Sequoia now, and has been very impatiently waiting for a redesign. Hopefully there will still be a somewhat reasonable resell value on the 19 when the time comes. (Of course if we follow our normal routine, we’ll just keep the damned thing and add to the fleet.)

You know that if you ever decided to sell any of your fleet all you would have to do is post it on the forum. A well kept vehicle is a rare thing these days, and yours are well documented. Plus, the buyer would be able to keep contact with any questions. That's a huge boon.

should have a good value still. Mine is a SR5 17 w/ 36k miles. Paid 47500 roughly and my last offer from the dealer was 41k.

I do have a 2003 Chevy Tahoe I’m not particularly attached to though.

Hopefully the new Sequoia will have full-time 4HI like the outgoing Gen. And on all trims like the current Gen. I can deal with cloth seats on an SR5, no power seat passenger side, but full-time 4HI is pretty much a must. Lack thereof is a massive downgrade.

Hmmm, Toyota can put whatever number they want as a tow rating on the Sequoia but it's still got a short wheelbase. I don't see the point in trying to lug 10k lbs behind a std length SUV.

I would never pull 10k with one either, but it's nice to know you have more wiggle room for lighter loads. Would also mean a higher payload rating when you load the back with all your crap.

I'm pretty sure at one point in time, the vast majority of the US population had strong convictions that it only takes one ...

Site rules make it very hard to remember the details behind why that is though.

Also, towing 10k with the truck let alone the Sequoia regularly wouldn't be something I would choose to do. 80% of 12k is 9600.

Thanks for that, good to see a 3G Seq on the road and towing. Rear certainly is way squatted, but I think that WDH isn't set up correctly. That WDH is one of the versions that use chainlink to seat the bars to the trailer frame and looks to me the bars should be up three links. Maybe the progressive-rate rear coils the Tundra has will go into the Sequoia also, seems like a good thing to have. The Tundra towing videos I saw didn't show squat like that and didn't have a WDH.

Yep, canvas for the cargo area. I got spendy with Canvasback.com cargo area canvas with our 4Runners and Carharrt for this Seq. There's tub-type cargo liners from Weathertec and Husky that work well, but it's still an SUV.

Dog meets skunk, it's better to have a truck bed. Always tradeoffs truck vs SUV.

It's anyone's guess about who Toyota is building the Sequoia for. If we get another no tow hook,, hippie driving, ugly nose, paultry mpg turbo V6, lifestyle SUV.... :puke:

I am holding out hope for the Sequoia. But if they fail and Chevy can get the lifters resolved this should be on your radar.

    6.2L V8. 80k though

You can save $10k by getting the chevy.

.....but I will still get the Toyota as my grandfather has owned 3 denali's and had significant problems with all 3.

That's unfortunate. My friend is a Chevy technician, he told me to stay away until the lifter issue is resolved. According to him it's only getting worse.

One dislike is the GMC cargo area isn't flat. That's a grrrrr thing for me. Current SR5 with 2nd row bench, 2H, auto 4HI, 4LO, CDL, and IRS is working fine. Make the cheap SR5 next gen the same for those nuts and bolts is fine with me.
TTV6 and 10spd auto is in the new Land Cruiser along with auto 4HI.

I don't disagree but it seems that the "spirit" or blueprint if you will of the 2.5 was not followed for this new generation.

At least that's my opinion so far.

Seq was always enhanced beyond the Tundra. New gen SR5 hopefully just basic but enhanced with 2nd row climate control as now and at a reasonable cost. And fultime 4H.
