Do new engines normally get "a little louder" over the years....?

I'd like to bring my 2019 (4.6L) (about 25000 mi) into a dealer to see what they say, but I'm sure it's going to be "sounds normal".....but what do you guys think.

My truck was always so incredibly quiet when idling I usually could never tell it was running when in the cab. My ears have not changed, but for the past few months, that's no longer the case (I mean the quietness).
It's definitely louder than it was both inside the cab, and outside at the front and underneath...when idling. There's no particular noise I can describe other than "overall louder".....and if I was buying itright now, I probably would not notice any problem (although I'm not smart enough to notice subtle noise problems). But when a noticeable change happens, I wonder what it is.

But one other definite/describable noise over the past few months (although still "slight") is a whining sound (seems to be the engine)when accelerating, pretty much
at any speed up to about 50mph i guess.... maybe most noticeable between going from 20-50mph. Hard to describe other than "whine"....not a whistle, or anything......When I googled around, I read about "power steering"....causing whines...and many other things....but again, it's pretty low-volume.

Now again, I probably would not consider this a problem-noise if it was my first time in this truck. It's just the change over time, mostly very noticeable to an owner like me who listens every day, but maybe not to someone else.

Also, the truck had almost 0 vibration (when in the cab) when idling, but now
i feel some vibration...or slight shaking, that was never there.

So how normal is this at only 25000 miles....?
I'm guessing there's a very low chance that any techs will say there's anything "abnormal" since they haven't heard this truck at earlier ages....
Is it worth bringing it in (under warranty)?

Where are you located? Assuming you don’t see freezing temps daily, try running 5w-30 for 5k miles and see if it quiets down.

Did you check all your fluids? Have you changed the oil recently?

My thoughts were along those lines. If you have changed oil lately, what did they use? Do you know? I find that some of my vehicles idle more quietly on full synthetic. If you got an oil change lately at a place that used conventional oil, maybe that's the difference.

If you have not changed it lately, I'd do that before doing anything else.

Yes, I did read (a while ago) about oil-issues causing noises...I should've mentioned that. Anyway, I do check the fluids, and the last
oilchange was at a dealer a few months ago and only a few thousand miles..(NY area)....and at that time I remember reading the receipt which showed the manual-recommended synthetic oil being used.....
(and all oil changes have been at dealers, at roughly 7000 mi. intervals)

My engine got quieter over time. When brand new (6 miles on it), it sounded like diesel with lots of ticking and tapping ... After a 1000 miles or so it got much smoother. However, all engines or cars will eventually get louder over time ...

As far as oil, some say M1 is noisy. I can't tell.

Some say thicker oil are quieter ... I wouldn't know since I don't use thin oil.

Some say use oil with more moly and based on my experience, I'll agree with that. Engines sounds smoother with it.

Mine 2018 roars when I first start it in the morning but quickly quiets down. I live in SC and rarely see any freezing. Haven’t figured out why and not worried since no alarming noises. Been running 0-20W synthetic in all my trucks. My 2000 has the first start tick from cracked exhaust manifold for few seconds that started around 80K miles out of warranty. It has almost 300K now and runs fine

The change in noise levels doesn't really bother me....but I'm thinking it's something I should bring to the dealer (or maybe more than one...since I"d probably
get a range of opinions) while it's still
under warranty for a few more months....right?

The title of this thread immediately made me think of my 5.7. I bought it in May of this year w/185,000 on it. When it starts cold, it has what I think is piston slap. It is a hollow sound that increases with acceleration, kind of like a quiet diesel. It goes away completely after the engine temp gets normal. I had an '02 4.7 that did the same thing. Has anyone else noticed this on a higher mileage engine?

Yup. I bought mine with 120,000 on the clock, and it's got what I'd call a valve train knock when cold. It also gets quiet when warmed. I also had an '03 with the 4.7 with 120,000 on it, and it did the same thing. :)
