Some think its a personal insult to them if someone decide to purchase something else. The Frontier just happens to work for me but it may not work for others. Many have gone to a 3/4 ton because the Tundra just doesn't work for them either. In 5 years time when my wife retires I'll probably be going the 3/4 ton route to pull a fifth wheel we plan on purchasing. I still think the Tundra is a great truck.

I almost wanted to buy the Frontier Pro 4X, but I noticed once I added leather seats they took away all the red stitching and accents, a real deal breaker for me.

Ya that's kind of a head scratcher.

I need the long wheel base crew cab with the six foot box and wanted leather seats but they aren't available on that trim.

I'm not sure why Americans are not coming up to Canada to buy Tundras? Maybe it's just to hard to register them in their state?

It usually requires a middle man. Some one needs to buy the vehicle up here, then export it down there. They can't get financing up here in Canada. But the good thing is, that if you bought a truck and then immediately exported it, there would be zero GST/HST.

The hard part of the export is that, the truck would need to be fully paid for prior to arrival in the USA, thereby clearing all leans/loans on the vehicle, otherwise an export isn't possible.

It's still expensive. SR5 CrewMax 5.5ft box TRD Off Road is $58,656 + tax, fees etc puts it over $60K. Never mind the TRD lift or extended warranty if you want that too. That's a lot of money for a half ton.

Dealer is saying mid-December for their first ones to land on the lot. Hopefully I'll be able to go in an look at them in person and test drive them.

Agreed, for us here in Canada, that really stinks but it could be worse, I mean $60k is still cheaper than the big 3 and the same truck will offer more. I saw an ad the day for a 3.6l Ram Bighorn for $64,000. That's horrible.

I just built a Sierra 2500HD on GM's site with the Convenience, Safety Confidence and Off Road packages plus upgraded wheels for $60,083. That's a decently equipped truck with way more truck stuff capability than a Tundra for $2000 more. I have no real need for a HD truck but when the pricing is that close it's a tough choice. Biggest downside is lack of bucket seats with the full center console and softer ride of a 1/2 ton.

But will the dealer actually sell you the truck for that price?

Tough to tell in this market but it's not uncommon to get a few grand off a GM. I can probably get at least close. There's a similarly built truck on a local lot for $68K. Wouldn't surprise me if I could get it for $61K or so.

Update: Sargent Toyota in Grande Prairie is saying they're initially planning to have 20 new Tundras hitting the lot on Dec 30, with more detailed pricing on the 3rd for which I'm on the email list. They are currently accepting $2000 fully refundable deposits if you're so inclined to do so.

I believe in the US, the base SR5 with Off Road comes with 18" and Limited Off Road, SR5 TRD Sport, and 1794 Off Road have 20".

I ordered a Blueprint Limited TRD Off Road and was expecting the 20" black wheels just like the red Tundra from all the launch pictures. Pretty bummed if it turns out to be 18" wheels that are two tone black and silver instead. Still hoping that its a typo, but Im pretty sure its not.

Is there a 360 camera in the 22 TRD Sport? Or is that what the multi terrain camera is and on Limited only?

Multi terrain monitor on SR5 TRD off road and Limited TRD off road, no 360 cameras on TRD Sport or Limited non off road. In the US, you can add 360 on SR5 or Limited, Toyota Canada should have included that on at least the Limited, it’s unbelievable that a $60K+ vehicle comes with backup camera only.

Alright it’s going to be the TRD Sport for me. Midnight black with black tires will look awesome. Can’t justify paying $10k more for the limited.

Are you thinking Double Cab or CrewMax? Is payload important to you? I'm really interested in knowing the difference in payload rating for the same model in the Double Cab and CrewMax configurations.

How big is your trailer? My wife and I are campers and we'll be pulling a 25' trailer (5600 lbs. dry; 7500 lbs. GVWR; tongue weight 650 lbs. dry) so payload capacity is important. I'm good with a Double Cab, CrewMax or hybrid CrewMax (likely Limited Off Road or Platinum) depending on which set up will give me the most payload.
