Traveling I-4 in FL to gamble in Tampa. Traffic goes from 90-stopped, no warning. I get the truck stopped but I knew it was coming…BAM. Old man hits me going at least 25 screeching tires. I get out throwing F-bombs like shrimp at a hibachi, he gets out praying. Bumper destroyed, tailgate destroyed, trailer hitch pushed in, exhaust knocked loose and fractured. His sh#*tbox is destroyed.

That sucks man. Glad you’re ok to toss shrimp on the hibachi.

It doesn’t look bad, but if the hitch is pushed in….

Check the build link in my signature.
Well that sure ain’t something to be thankful for, except that no one got hurt.
Caved in hitch probably means frame damage…

I didn’t think FL traffic was that bad, even during spring break this year. Then again, maybe we were lucky…or just used to craptastic traffic.

    Wanted to give an update..
Parts finally came in for repair, yes almost 3 months later. Shop said it all had to be OEM , truck is too new for aftermarket. Once they got it on the lift they discovered more damage. Tailgate couldn’t be straightened, 1 tailgate bracket was bent, trailer hitch was destroyed and the mount was bent, aftermarket TRD sway bar was bent, bumper mounts bent, hairline cracks in taillights, exhaust bent with broken mounts, after market recovery hitch bent, 2 rear sensors were smashed. Additional $4700 in parts\labor above original $4290 quote. Insurance sent an adjuster to the shop. My shop guy calls me and tells me exactly this: the adjuster showed up in your exact truck, different color. Stated he loved the Tundra and hated to see a 3 month old truck damaged. Looked at it for 5 minutes and approved every request the shop made. Even went above and beyond to include 75% reimbursement for the exhaust ( I put a shit, crap drool inducing MBR on, he quoted the factory cost). That will go a long way towards paying for my new BAMuffler.
My shop stated this never happens, they always have to fight for repairs. The adjuster was just a kick ass cool dude who actually cared about fixing a $57K truck without cutting corners. This has taken a long time, I never complained, never got upset about the delays or the back orders and I truly think I was rewarded for not being an uptight douche demanding results sooner.
I will add, the other driver had minimum $10k collision. My wife worked for Liberty and told me to go through our insurance collision because she had a feeling we would get close to or above the $10k pretty quickly. Factoring in the diminished value claim I will be filling, this is at least a $15k claim. My insurance will battle his for reimbursement and the cover of my deductible.
