My trailer weights just over 5K and about 600lbs tongue weight. Payload is higher than the Tundra but it is only designed to tow a max of 6.5K. You might be pushing it some on a trailer that weight 6K. Personally I would take for another test drive but hook up your trailer to it and see how it tows. Choose the LWB version for the best result.

Man that still looks like a lot of carriage behind the horse..... I don't know much about the new Frontier, but still looks like a lot of trailer for it but I have been wrong many times before according to my wife.....

The trailer is 24' from bumper to tongue. The picture makes it look big. I've pulled the same trailer with my Tundra and Tacoma.

That sounds like a lot of trailer to tow with a midsize.

Probably. It's only 26' bumper to hitch and dry weight is 5k, but still... I sold my Tacoma and bought the Tundra to pull it. I'm afraid the Frontier just wouldn't have the horses.

In Canada the Nissan full size has been discontinued. They had some left overs but the price that they were getting was outrageous. They were priced about 20K over a Tundra. Tacoma was a no because it just doesn't make enough torque down low. Kind of what you need for a tow vehicle.

It's not the HP, it's about the wheel base and weight of your tow vehicle. Controlling what behind the truck is the most important aspect of towing. Check the door GVWR to see if it will work for you.

    Two things:

    1. The reason I drive a Toyota is because everyone else in my family drives a Ford, thinking that getting 100k miles = “reliability”, and is used to regular trips to the dealer for small to major issues.

    2. The 3rd gen will be awesome. I just wish they had gone after the guys who use their trucks for more than singing acoustic shoegaze pop on the tailgate. In fact, I know several country artists who are big time hunters, many of whom have clothing lines, endorsements, hunting merch, etc…did Toyota even try to reach out to any of them? In that commercial, I didn’t see that truck do a single thing that a Prius couldn’t do. Would that guy sit on my tailgate? Doubtful…

After reading a couple articles, I'm wondering if some of the things that aren't available are partly due to Toyota trying to control their chip usage. Things like no memory seats on the limited and below, and some of the other options that should be available on all, but are only available on the platinum and 1794. I know some of the options will only be available on the upper trims but some of the omissions just seem silly.

Where in the world are you pulling both of those numbers from? The $20k increase is not even remotely close to possible

    Frontier Sport 4x4 45K
Tundra Sport 4x4 56k but not officially announced.

I exaggerated a little. Only 11k difference but this is also assuming the the low production numbers of the Tundra won't push up prices past MSRP.

You are correct, the 24mpg is for a 2WD. It's a very conservative number and many on the Frontier forum are achieving 24-26mpg.

The trd sport package on a sr5 is more like 46k base price.it seems you decided on another truck and your really stretching things to back your decision. Have you done much research? I bet guys will get over 23mpg on the highway with the 2022 tundra too driving more conservatively

1794 colour selection is very weak. Possibly white w the brown interior as being the only decent option. That said, I’m not a fan of impractical White as a truck colour over the long haul.

The Tundra Sport 4x4 crew cab is listed as $56,090 in CANADA.

A truck that weights almost 6K and 389hp is not going to get similar mpg as a truck weighing 4.5K and 310hp. My 2020 Tundra was rated at 19mpg and my 2013 Frontier is rated at 20mpg. In real life I'm spending less on fuel using the Nissan.

These are only a few factors that determined my decision.

Wow, a guy with 42 posts tell me to move on. There are quite a few members on this forum that no longer have their Tundras and have not "moved on". As a just retired Toyota tech I pretty sure I can contribute to this forum but thanks for the suggestion but I think I may hang around for awhile.

Gotcha, the way you worded it made it sound like the hybrid upgrade on the tundra was goi f to cost and additional 20k cdn- was going to tell you to put down the crack pipe! Makes more sense now

Would you expect anything less from some of these people on here? It shouldn’t but it still amazes me the way some people respond. God forbid if you don’t agree with them or if they don’t agree with your decisions.

This forum is pretty respectful compared to others. When you do get that rogue a$$hole troll poster other members are pretty quick in jumping in and set things straight.

Move on? You have exactly 42 posts. LOL

He's on the Tundra forums because unlike some,

    - he's owned a Tundra for years AND
    - has been immensely helpful to many on this board.

I stand with Ruggy too. I'm picking up my new F150 hybrid next week. I don't expect it to be perfect but neither is Toyota. I'm not going anywhere either. My next truck will probably be the Tundra, if it pans out and makes sense at the time. It didn't this time because it doesn't exist yet, hasn't proven itself yet and between the greedy dealers and lemmings lined up to overpay, it will be too expensive for a while so I'll wait.

Nah. You can move on. We'll keep @Ruggybuggy around, he's been a solid member here. I have no issue with a guy like him sticking around even if he doesn't have a Tundra. I'm looking forward to hearing his real world reports about his new truck. Hell, more than a few long time members here no longer own Tundras including one of the moderators.

Agreed. Sweers loves market surveys, and surveys are a useful tool, but what market segments is Toyota sending the surveys to??? What segments are their ads aimed at???

I suppose having only prototypes to show til recently they don't want to go on a big ad campaign with prototypes. But now they should start showing off the awesome Crawl Control digging out of mudpits and snow, the factory lift with 35's, ground clearance, maybe show those optional towhooks (in red of course!).

I think lack of full-time 4HI will bite them in the ass, it's an industry standard now. They won't grow their market share by omitting an industry standard. Same with the '23 Sequoia, should be 2HI - fulltime 4HI - 4LO and CDL.

Side note before I forget, I wonder if a 35" spare will fit in the stock location?

Has anyone seen a first real production tundra hit the dealership yet? I heard rumors of a few getting trucks in.
