I thought I saw blueprint as a color on the costco builder. for platinum. (I like that color/model too)

we personally after seeing a camry at sunset in blueprint are no longer interested in blueprint, its way to dark to the point it was black once the darkness hits. at least with our blazing blue platinum you can tell its blue at night. only option is either red or grey now. or wait a year to see if they bring in a different blue color.

I've come to the conclusion that Toyota's SuperBowl commercial is going to be a surprise video of how they let their unpaid interns handle the Tundra rollout. It's the only logical explanation.

I guess they are trying to get the hipster crowd, like my college educated son to buy the new Tundra. ;)

Out of all the folks out there with occupations or hobby’s that actually put the truck through its paces and use it as a truck, they chose this guy? They could have at least used the overdone cliche of a cowboy out on the ranch hauling hay bails or something.

Stopped at my dealer last night, looking at a Rav4 for a work rig.... anyway, I asked when the new Tundra would be in and he just laughed, says they may get 2 before the end of the year, after that who knows.

I thought the creators had to opt in for that but maybe I misunderstood.

Has anybody seen black cloth seats on sr5? All I can find online is grey cloth seats. I mean they look fine for cloth seat but just want to see those in black color.

Going to order sr5 trdoffroad.. Hoping to see some pics before I order one.

Biggest thing I've noticed is no armrest in backseat, like the upper trims.

So we went from the 2007 Tundra being given to the King Ranch to abuse for a year for marketing...to a too old hipster sitting on the tailgate....seems about right this day and age.

I have to say, I have never really cared for the looks of the Tundra, and never gave the 2nd gens a whole lot of thought....until now....I originally thought the new tundra would be perfect for a camping rig, but I have gone a different direction with that. I do however find myself in need of a "farm" truck for around the property to use and abuse like a rented mule, that I don't have to work on every time I want to use it....so I am warming up to a used 2nd gen...thanks to the stellar marketing on this new truck.

Hard to believe that the company that has brought so many other good vehicles in their respective catagories, with arguably pretty spot on marketing, could get the marketing for this thing so incredibly wrong..

If you read the description in the YouTube short it said "This is the first video of the "Sounds of the Road" series, presented by Toyota and SiriusXM". I guess there is going to be more in this series of Tundra ads. Who is next the Dixie Chicks driving the new Tundra?

Remember when the 2nd gen came out and they showed it pulling a trailer up the steep spiral with flames coming off of it to show how tough the truck was.... yeah that was cool. Now we sit on the tailgate with a hippy singing kumbaya.

I went to the toyota site, they have others in this sound of road series for each model in the Toyota lineup - corolla/tacoma were also there.

Well I'm out of the running for the new Tundra. I've decided to move to a mid size truck. There are a number of reasons for my decision. Gas prices in Canada are over $6/USgallon and the new Tundra just didn't increase mpg enough to justify the purchase. My 2020 Tundra had unresolved mechanical issues and Toyota Customer service left a very bad taste in my mouth. The long delay for the Tundra was also a factor. Styling was also a factor, having a hard time with the enormous grill. The price increase also swayed my decision. The size increase was also a factor, adding another 5 inches would make it a tight fit in my garage. My 2020 would sometimes be a pain to park downtown and adding 5 more inches would make it even more difficult. I originally had a 2018 Tacoma 5M that I did like but it just couldn't pull my TT very well. I bought my 2020 Tundra and it pulled the TT great but after the mechanical issues I sold it back to Toyota and bought a 2013 Frontier as a bridge vehicle until the new Tundra came in. To my surprise the Frontier pulled my TT very well. So well that I decided I just don't need a full size Tundra. I was so impressed with the Frontier that I went ahead and ordered a 2022 Frontier Sport which will be here before Christmas. With the 9 speed transmission and 310hp it should do very well pulling the TT.

    The exact truck I ordered.

I can't say I blame you. Hopefully you'll stick around here and give us some reports on how it does.

I've been really wanting to like the new Tundra and it's really getting to be time to buy a new truck, especially with my dad wanting to buy my 1st Gen. Between the pricing of a well optioned crewmax nearly touching $60K when the dust settles and fuel pricing skyrocketing (we'll hit $2 per liter or $7 - $8 per gallon by end of 2023) while the Tundra doesn't offer any serious gains in that dept, I'm really not sure what I'm going to do. I'd buy a 2021 but selection is non-existent, pricing is in the stratosphere and the fuel thing again. I'd buy a used Tundra but the pricing is somewhere out near Mars and again, fuel costs.

Ford simply isn't an option for me. Neither is RAM. GMC/Chevy don't offer the full center console and bucket seats in their affordable trims. Nissan, I don't full trust their reliability, they only makes the Frontier and if I'm paying in the mid $40K range for a truck, I demand half ton performance.

I'll be sticking around, I'm a retired Toyota tech. I do wish the Frontier was a little cheaper but they priced it right at Tacoma costs. If Toyota had put a decent engine and tranny in the Tacoma I would have stayed with Toyota. As far as reliability the Frontier has been voted one of the most reliable midsize trucks. The new Frontier is still running the same frame, brakes and suspension. Reliability should be similar.

    God I hope we don't see $2/litre.

What is the mpgs on the Frontier? I loved my 2005 Tacoma, but I think it would tough to downsize now that I'm used to the Tundra.

22mpg on the highway and the truck will be about 11K(CDN) difference in cost for a similarly equipped truck.

    Edited for the correct numbers.

I was just looking at the new Frontier a few weeks ago. The trim I looked at was a 4D 4x4 and had over 300 lbs more payload than my Tundra. How big is your camper? Mine is 6k max and about 700 on the hitch. I'd love to get back in a midsize. I hate the Tundra in town and have the same concern about the new one being longer. I only have about 18" left in the garage with my Tundra now.
