my truck doesn't want to go over 2000 RPMs in any gear. when I give it enough gas my truck surges and jumps to 3000 RPMs and starts backfiring but I see no acceleration. Ive replaced all my spark plugs and ive tried sea foam in the intake and the gas. what should I try

Check your check engine light codes if you have any. Parts store will do for free. May just be an ignition coil going out. Sometimes it takes quite a while to throw a code for misfire though.

Hook up a diag code reader. Then come back to us. The symptoms mean nothing specific, and we cannot provide decent suggestions without knowing if there's any codes. I'm expecting something related to fuel or spark will be found, possibly EVAP/emissions, it just hasn't thrown a money light yet.

Codes codes codes. Gotta have codes. Sounds like it could be a clogged cat too.

Sounds like a bad MAF sensor to me.

Unplug your maf sensor and go for a drive. If it does fine, clean your maf and plug it back in. If it acts up again, replace it.

Check codes (engine and trans), clear codes.
Disconnect battery and allow reset if all systems.
    Drive.

I'm thinking I'd go with possibility of bad MAF. If I had to choose between MAF and CAT to replace, I'd replace MAF 1st. Costs less. DO NOT buy it on scAmazon or Fleabay. Buy OEM if possible, else buy from a known retailer (online) like Summit Racing or Rock Auto, or a local auto parts store.
