Does anyone run towing mirrors for off road purposes? Do they help?

I've seen a few overlanders/off roaders with towing mirrors and I know for a fact they don't tow pretty much at all.

Anyone have experience? Do they help with better visibility?

That sounds annoying. Wider, plus blocking more frontal view. The only mirror you maybe need is the passenger side, otherwise I've never seen anyone add more mirrors to make something more "off-road capable"

Mirrors can be expensive to replace, painfully so in some cases. They can easily be removed on close quarters off-roading by trees and such. Kind of like not wearing a cup in baseball, it might be more comfortable most of the time, but it only take one errant whack...

A stick on 3" convex circle will always be my preference for all purposes.

No. Forward/side visibility (at 10 and 2) is greatly reduced with tow mirrors. Plus, they extend more so prone to snag on branches.

I know this is an older post, but I just put some OEM tow mirrors on as I got a good deal on a used set.
Not extended, I thought I measured them to stick out only an inch and a half more than the originals.
The return on the view out ways it for me. I posed the question in a thread a couple days ago and got talked into it.
